We arrive at the beach just in time to see Akane challenge Monokuma head-on. She doesn’t stand a chance, but she refuses to back down. Just as Monokuma prepares to unleash a bazooka, Nekomaru leaps in front of the blast to protect her. Even though Monokuma claims he’ll forgive Akane if Nekomaru becomes the sacrifice, he still carts Nekomaru off in an ambulance. And when morning comes, things only get stranger: Akane is in tears, Nagito is spouting disturbing lies, and Ibuki will believe anything she hears. Mikan discovers they all have fevers, and Monokuma gleefully introduces his new motive—Despair Disease.
