Zechariah 12 - “the Spirit of grace and of supplication”, What does that mean?
RVTAZec 12:10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping over a first-born. Elohim will pour out the Spirit of grace and of supplication on the inhabitants of Jerusalem. When He does this, they will understand His Word. Prov. 1:23 “Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. Isa. 44:3-5 ‘For I will pour out water on the thirsty land And streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring, And My blessing on your descendants; 4And they will spring up among the grass Like poplars by streams of water.’ 5“This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’S’; And that one will call on the name of Jacob; And another will write on his hand, ‘Belonging to the LORD,’ And will name Israel’s name with honor. Isa. 59:19-21 So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream, Which the wind of the LORD drives. 20“And a Redeemer will come to Zion, And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” declares the LORD. 21“And as for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from now and forever.” When He pours His Spirit upon them and they understand His Word, they will look upon "Me" whom they have pierced and they will mourn for Him. Psalm 22:16-17 For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet. 17I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; Rev. 1:7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. Even so. Amen. Amos 8:9-10 “And it will come about in that day,” declares the Lord GOD, “That I shall make the sun go down at noon And make the earth dark in broad daylight. 10“Then I shall turn your festivals into mourning And all your songs into lamentation; And I will bring sackcloth on everyone’s loins And baldness on every head. And I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son, And the end of it will be like a bitter day. Matt. 24:29-31 “But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken, 30and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory. 31“And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.29 views 1 comment -
Zechariah 11 – The two staffs: their meanings and how prevalent they are in reference to our Messiah
RVTAZec 11:7 So I pastured the flock doomed to slaughter, hence the afflicted of the flock. And I took for myself two staffs: the one I called Favor, and the other I called Union; so I pastured the flock. Zechariah says he pastured the flock doomed to slaughter, as did Yeshua Messiah. He shepherded the afflicted of the flock. Matt. 11:5 the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. James 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? Zechariah took two staffs for shepherding. One is called Favor (or pleasantness), the other is called Union. Favor and unity is what Elohim wants for His people. Psalm 133:1-3 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! 2It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard, Coming down upon the edge of his robes. 3It is like the dew of Hermon, Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forever. John 17:20-23 “I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me. 22“And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one; 23I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me. Zec 11:8 Then I annihilated the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was impatient with them, and their soul also was weary of me. Elohim says He destroyed three shepherds in one month. I do not know what this means. It could be a reference to the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Scribes who falsely led Judah. They hated Elohim John 15:22-25 “If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23“He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24“If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well. 25“But they have done this in order that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their Law, ‘THEY HATED ME WITHOUT A CAUSE.’24 views 1 comment -
Zechariah 10 – For the teraphim speak iniquity… Who or what are teraphim? A shepherd. is crucial.
RVTAZec 10:2 For the teraphim speak iniquity, And the diviners see lying visions, And tell false dreams; They comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep, They are afflicted, because there is no shepherd. Teraphim are idols. Idolatry is a lie. The diviners see lying visions and comfort the people by telling them what they want to hear. The people of Israel were wandering like sheep because they have no shepherd. Ezek 34:5-8 “And they were scattered for lack of a shepherd, and they became food for every beast of the field and were scattered. 6“My flock wandered through all the mountains and on every high hill, and My flock was scattered over all the surface of the earth; and there was no one to search or seek for them.”’” 7Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: 8“As I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “surely because My flock has become a prey, My flock has even become food for all the beasts of the field for lack of a shepherd, and My shepherds did not search for My flock, but rather the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock; In the day of Zechariah, Judah was without a shepherd to lead them. In Torah, Moses said that he did not want Israel to wander like sheep without a Shepherd, so Elohim had him appoint Yeshua as their shepherd. Num. 27:16-18 “May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, 17who will go out and come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which have no shepherd.” 18So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; In Zechariah's day, they had no shepherd and were wandering like lost sheep. But Elohim would soon send the Good Shepherd to lead them. John 10:14-15 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My own, and My own know Me, 15even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. Zec 10:3 "My anger is kindled against the shepherds, And I will punish the male goats; For the LORD of hosts has visited His flock, the house of Judah, And will make them like His majestic horse in battle. Zechariah 9 – If the King has come, why are there wars and why is His dominion not from sea to sea?
RVTAZec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. This was (naturally) fulfilled when Yeshua rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. Matt. 21:1-5 And when they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them, and bring them to Me. 3“And if anyone says something to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.” 4Now this took place that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, 5“SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, ‘BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, GENTLE, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A BEAST OF BURDEN.’” The King arrived in Jerusalem, just as prophesied. Zec 9:10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, And the horse from Jerusalem; And the bow of war will be cut off. And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth. If the King has come, why are there still wars and why is His dominion not from sea to sea? The answer is simple and very consistent with prophecy that we see in Scripture and especially in Zechariah. Yeshua Messiah riding into Jerusalem on a donkey as King was the sure sign that they could know that He will put an end to war and reign over the earth. Elohim in several places in prophecy said that a sign of something soon happening will be a sure sign that the other things will take place. Zech 6:15 “And those who are far off will come and build the temple of the LORD.” Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. And it will take place, if you completely obey the LORD your God. River Valley Torah Assembly22 views 1 comment -
Zechariah 8 - The fast of the 4th; 5th, 7th and 10th months. Four fast days commemorate what?
RVTAZec 8:18 Then the word of the LORD of hosts came to me saying, Zec 8:19 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'The fast of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth months will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah; so love truth and peace.' The four fast days commemorate: (1) the siege of Jerusalem , (2) the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem, (3) the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem, and (4) the murder of Gedaliah. This mourning was to turn to rejoicing. They are to love Truth and peace. River Valley Torah Assembly19 views -
Zechariah 6&7 - The chariots had horses that are the same four horses that are in Revelation 6:1-8.
RVTAZec 6:2 With the first chariot were red horses, with the second chariot black horses, Zec 6:3 with the third chariot white horses, and with the fourth chariot strong dappled horses. The chariots had horses that are the same four horses that are in Revelation 6:1-8. It appears that the purpose of the horses in Zechariah is not to identify the order of the spread of the Muslim Empire. Zec 6:4 Then I spoke and said to the angel who was speaking with me, "What are these, my lord?" Zec 6:5 And the angel answered and said to me, "These are the four spirits of heaven, going forth after standing before the Lord of all the earth, These four horses are described as the four spirits (or winds Heb.- ruach). This ties these horses with gog and magog of Ezekiel 38 & 39 and the resurrection of the nation of Israel Ezek 37:9 Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life.”’” It also ties the four winds or spirits to the four beasts of Daniel 7 Dan 7:2-3 Daniel said, “I was looking in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea. 3“And four great beasts were coming up from the sea, different from one another. Zechariah 4&5 – 2 olive trees - a lampstand, the Northern and Southern kingdoms as one assembly.
RVTAZec 4:1 Then the angel who was speaking with me returned, and roused me as a man who is awakened from his sleep. It sounds as if the messenger startled Zechariah. Zec 4:2 And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it; Zechariah is seeing the gold lampstand that was in the Temple. That original lampstand was apparently stolen and destroyed by the Babylonians some 70 plus years earlier (Jer 52:19). We are told that a lampstand represents an assembly. So Zechariah is picturing a lampstand that represents one assembly. Zec 4:3 also two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side." There are two olive trees. One on each side of the lampstand. Olive trees represent Israel (Jer 11:16-17, Hosea 14:5-6). In chapter 3, Zechariah was given a vision of Messiah as Joshua the high priest, the Branch, and the Rock. Here, Zechariah is given a vision of the two houses of Israel as one assembly with Messiah over them. Ezekiel was told this same thing also (Ezek 37:15-28). Zec 4:4 Then I answered and said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, "What are these, my lord?" Zec 4:5 So the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, "Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord." Zec 4:6 Then he answered and said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts. Zerubbabel was appointed by Cyrus to be governor of Judah. Zerubbabel was the grandson of Jehoiachin who was in the line of David (Haggai 1:12-14). Zechariah is to tell this to Zerubbabel to be an encouragement to him (v. 6). The gathering of Israel and Judah will not take place by the light or power of man, but by the Spirit of Elohim. Zechariah 3 - The High Priest does not speak in this vision just as Messiah stood silent.
RVTAZec 3:3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the angel. I think it is too much of a coincidence to have the high priest in this vision and His name is Yeshua, or Yehoshua. Apparently the High Priest here is THE High Priest, being Yeshua Messiah. It appears that this vision is a telling of Yeshua Messiah coming to Israel twice. The filthy garments of Yehoshua are the sins of Israel. Isa 64:6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. The High Priest does not speak in this vision as He stand before Elohim in filthy garments. Just as Yeshua stood silent has the sins of Israel were placed upon Him. Isa 53:1-8 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. 3He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. 7He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. 8By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living, For the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due? The first time He came in filthy garments taking upon Himself the sins of Israel. With that being the case, He suffered the punishment due His people. 2 Sam 7:10-15 “I will also appoint a place for My people Israel and will plant them, that they may live in their own place and not be disturbed again, nor will the wicked afflict them any more as formerly, 11even from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. The LORD also declares to you that the LORD will make a house for you. 12“When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. 13“He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14“I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men, 15but My lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. Zechariah 1&2 - Their fathers followed false prophets and lies (Isa 3:8-12). They were dealt with.
RVTAZec 1:6 "But did not My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said, 'As the LORD of hosts purposed to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.'"'" Their fathers followed false prophets and lies. Isa 3:8-12 For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen, Because their speech and their actions are against the LORD, To rebel against His glorious presence. 9The expression of their faces bears witness against them. And they display their sin like Sodom; They do not even conceal it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves. 10Say to the righteous that it will go well with them, For they will eat the fruit of their actions. 11Woe to the wicked! It will go badly with him, For what he deserves will be done to him. 12O My people! Their oppressors are children, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray, And confuse the direction of your paths. They realized that Elohim has dealt with them according to their evil ways. Hosea 2:6-11 “Therefore, behold, I will hedge up her way with thorns, And I will build a wall against her so that she cannot find her paths. 7“And she will pursue her lovers, but she will not overtake them; And she will seek them, but will not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my first husband, For it was better for me then than now!’ 8“For she does not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, And lavished on her silver and gold, Which they used for Baal. 9“Therefore, I will take back My grain at harvest time And My new wine in its season. I will also take away My wool and My flax Given to cover her nakedness. 10“And then I will uncover her lewdness In the sight of her lovers, And no one will rescue her out of My hand. 11“I will also put an end to all her gaiety, Her feasts, her new moons, her sabbaths, And all her festal assemblies.
