COMMUNION / EDIFICATION COMPLEX of the SOUL #27 - Satan is not opposed to good morals. / (1/4/26 )
countrybiblechurchbrenhamECS – LESSON #27 (1-4-26) Category #4 is CHURCH FAMILIES 1. Most Bible Churches are legitimate Church Families. Many have a prepared pastor-teacher who teach their flock enough Bible Doctrine that they know that God commands all of His children to love one another. 2. All Church Age believers are children of God which mean we are brothers and sisters. We are given many verses that explain to us how we should treat each other. Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; 4) do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. This is a principle from, encouraging humility, selflessness, and valuing others' needs above your own by avoiding selfish ambition and pride, focusing on serving and uplifting people, much like the example of Christ. It means actively esteeming others highly, lifting them up, and putting their interests first, which shifts focus from self-centeredness to others-centeredness. 3. The following is a biblical verse urging believers to encourage each other daily ("exhort one another daily") while it is still "Today," to prevent their hearts from becoming hardened by sin's deceitfulness, emphasizing the need for ongoing community support and vigilance against spiritual deception and hardening of the heart. Hebrews 3:13-14 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," lest anyone of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14) For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end;9 views 1 comment -
1 JOHN #76, Christmas message conclusion. Genuine humility of Jesus Christ. (12/23/25 )
countrybiblechurchbrenham-----Complete notes can be downloaded from our website - www.countrybiblechurch.us -----You may contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] CHRISTMAS MESSAGE (continued from 12-21-25) 12-23-25 Two other biblical visitors deserve mention: Simeon, a righteous man at the temple, held the infant Jesus and praised God, recognizing him as the Savior. These two people, including Anna, who recognized Jesus as the Messiah, can be found in (Luke 2:25-39). Luke 2:25-35 Anna, a prophetess who lived at the temple, also saw baby Jesus and proclaimed to all present that he was “God’s Son, the Savior of the world!” Anna was the daughter of Phanuel from the tribe of Asher. An elderly widow who had remained unmarried after her husband’s death, she devoted herself to temple life, spending her days in fasting and prayer. Her age is uncertain—the Greek text allows for either 84 or 105 years old. As a prophetess in the Jerusalem Temple, Anna recognized the infant Jesus as Israel’s promised Messiah alongside Simeon. When she encountered the baby in the temple, she recognized Him as the fulfillment of God’s promises. She responded by giving thanks to God and speaking about Him to all who anticipated Israel’s redemption. Anna represents a particular type of Jewish piety—a widow whose devotion was expressed through consistent temple presence and spiritual disciplines of fasting and prayer. Her role in Luke’s narrative parallels Simeon’s, as both elderly, faithful believers serve as witnesses to Jesus’s identity and significance. Through their recognition of the child, Luke emphasizes that Jesus’s coming fulfilled the hopes and expectations embedded in Israel’s religious tradition. Luke 2:36-39 Earthly gatherings after all have something about them that is sad and sorrowful. The happiest parties sometimes contain uncongenial members; the merriest meetings are only for a very short time. Moreover, as years roll on, the hand of death makes painful gaps in the family circle. Even in the midst of Christmas merriment we cannot help remembering those who have passed away.… People do not talk much of such things, but there are few that do not feel them. We need not intrude our innermost thoughts on others, and especially when all around us are bright and happy. But there are not many, I suspect, who reach middle age, who would not admit, if they spoke the truth, that there are sorrowful things inseparably mixed up with a Christmas party. In short, there is no unmixed pleasure about any earthly gathering. But is there no better gathering yet to come? Is there no bright prospect on our horizon of an assembly which shall far outshine the assemblies of Christmas and New Year—an assembly in which there shall be joy without sorrow, and mirth without tears? Elliot Ritzema, ed., 300 Quotations and Prayers for Christmas, (Lexham Press, 2013). There would be no salvation without the virgin birth. LESSON # 76 1 JOHN - (12-23-25) 2.Our Lord’s function inside of the Divine Dynasphere. a) Of special interest is our Lord’s function by genuine humility. Every other person must be trained by enforced humility which hopefully will turn into genuine utility. (The greatest virtue in life is the greatest human virtue which is genuine humility.) b) 1 Peter 5:5-6 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 6) Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, c) James 4:6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore, it says, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Principles: 1. Our Lord's humility as a child in the home. The home = organized humility. Organized humility means there must be teachability as far as the child is concerned. The child who is not teachable will never orient to life; he cannot live a normal life. The purpose is to prepare the child for life; the policy is the teaching and inculcation function of the parents. Authority becomes the great issue, that of one or two parents = enforced humility. When the child responds to the authority of the parent, whether fair or unfair, this is the development of genuine humility which is the first characteristic of maturity as well as the most basic human virtue in life. Our Lord attained easily by age 12 all of these factors – total teachability inside of the Divine Dynasphere. 2. The home or Divine institution #3 is provided by God for the human race to make the most difficult transition in life – from authority in the home as a child to freedom in life as an adult.14 views -
CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - Prophesies of the birth of Jesus Christ (12/21/25 )
countrybiblechurchbrenham----Complete notes can be downloaded from our website - www.countrybiblechurch.us -----You may contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] COUNTRY BIBLE CHURCH CHRISTMAS MESSAGE DECEMBER 21, 2025 Pastor Mike Smith The birth of Jesus Christ was prophesized several times, here are a few of them: Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. Matthew 1:23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which translated means, "God with us." Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting." Genesis 3:15 speaks of enmity between the serpent and the woman’s Seed, with her seed bruising the serpent’s head—understood as pointing toward Jesus’ ultimate victory. Genesis 3:15 And I (G.F.) will put enmity Between you (Satan) and the woman, And between your seed (anti-Christ) and her Seed (Jesus Christ); He shall bruise (crush) your head (Satan imprisoned for 1000 years) And you shall bruise His heel (on the cross). Kari and I got a Christmas card from a friend which I want you to see what it said: He came not to a throne, but to a manger. He lived not as a king, but as a servant. He chose not a kingdom, but a cross. He gave not just a little, but everything. Holley Gerth My prayer this Christmas is that you will: Hear the Word of God clearly taught; Know that God has a perfect Plan for you; Have confidence that God wants to do to bless you abundantly every day; and He wants you to be happy! Thanking God for His gift of a Savior… and thanking Him for you ! Imitate Jesus in His Humility The Infant Jesus is silent. He does not extol Himself; He does not proclaim His own power and greatness, and behold, an angel announces His birth, a multitude of the heavenly host praise and glorify the newborn King. You that would follow Christ, in like manner imitate His example. Hide the gifts and graces you have received. Love to be unknown. Let the mouths of others praise you, but keep your own lips closed. BERNARD OF CLAIRVAUX (1090–1153)*, ibid What about the town of Bethlehem? Micah 5:2 “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.” John 7:42 “Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” Who Visited Baby Jesus in the Bible? The biblical accounts identify two primary groups who visited the infant Jesus. Shepherds keeping watch over their flocks received an angelic announcement of Jesus’s birth and traveled to Bethlehem, where they found the baby lying in a manger with Mary and Joseph. (Luke 2:8–20) Luke 2:8-20 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 "And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" 15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them. Magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem after observing a star, declaring they had come to worship the newborn king of the Jews. Matthew 2:1-2313 views -

COMMUNION - Relationship with God = maturing spiritually to the level of loving Him. (11-2-25)
countrybiblechurchbrenham-----Complete notes can be downloaded from our website - www.countrybiblechurch.us -----You may contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] We are the Royal Family and we are here to obey our Lord’s command to partake of the elements in order to remember our Lord Jesus Christ. I am going to show a section of the Basic Spiritual Skills that Dr. Robert Dean taught 11 years ago. We now get into the main body of the epistle which extends to 1 John 4:19 and the main message is that the believer must mature to the level of loving God (Deuteronomy 30:16) as loving one another (John 15:17) if he is going to be bold before the Judgment Seat of Christ. He must reach a level of spiritual maturity in order to be bold before the Judgment Seat of Christ. This begins and is introduced in the first verse of this section. 1 John 2:28 “Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.” John is expressing himself and his love for the congregation: by teaching them what is necessary to advance to spiritual maturity. He saw them as those who are under his pastoral care. Then we have the primary command, and this is the primary command of the Gospel of John: “abide in Him.” This is a present active indicative of the verb “meno”, a word relating ongoing fellowship, continued intimacy with the Lord Jesus Christ based on the Word of God, and application of His Word. This introduces the main idea, the main theme, of the section from 2:28-4:19. Why is it important to abide in Him? We don’t just abide in Him simply to grow and glorify God; there is more to it than that. There are many dimensions to that and the one that John is emphasizing here is for the purpose that “when He appears, we may have confidence.” There are two words that are important to understand here. The first is the present passive subjunctive of the verb phaneroo [fanerow] which is often used of either the Rapture or the Second Coming. The other is the last word in the English, “coming,” which is the Greek word parousia [parousia]. These two words are words that are general terms for the coming of Christ. Context is going to determine whether they refer to the Rapture of the church or whether they refer to the Second Coming of Christ. The context here is that John is addressing church age believers. Why would we shrink away from Him in shame? The reason is that the event that immediately follows the Rapture for the church age believer is the judgment seat of Christ. This is explained in two key passages in the New testament. The first is in: 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or useless (phaulos).” This does not refer to our eternal destiny, that is already settled; this has to do with our roles and responsibilities in the Millennial kingdom, with rewards for spiritual growth, As we advance to spiritual maturity that is going to impact and affect the function of our priesthood—witnessing, giving, and all of the other things that relate to our priesthood—but our rewards at the judgment seat of Christ are not based on that, they are based on our spiritual growth! 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 “Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord—7) for we walk by faith, not by sight…” That is the principle of the spiritual life; we are to walk by faith and not by sight. This is trust in the Word of God. Faith means that the Word of God is more real to us than our experience, our feelings, than our circumstances; and if the Word of God is more real to us than the events of our lives, then we are walking by faith and not by sight. 8) “We are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.” This is our spiritual skill or stress-buster and what we call a Personal Sense of Our Eternal Destiny. We know where we are headed. We know that our citizenship is in heaven, we know that we have an Eternal Destiny, that our destiny is to rule and reign with Jesus Christ, and therefore because our focus is on heaven we want to be there. But we understand that there is a purpose for our life and time here on earth, it is a training ground and where we are developing our spiritual maturity so that we have the capacity and the ability to rule and reign with Him during the Millennial kingdom. There is a purpose to this; it is like boot camp in the military. How well we do is going to determine what our position is after the judgment seat of Christ. 9) “Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.”46 views -
Rev. Moses C. Onwubiko - I AM WITH YOU - Matthew 28:20 (9-18-25)
countrybiblechurchbrenham-----Complete notes can be downloaded from our website - www.countrybiblechurch.us -----You may contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] Combing through Scripture, the phrase “I am with you” appears more often in the Hebrew Bible than in the New Testament, with the NIV using it about 23 times and other versions even more. In the Old Testament Gen. 26:24: The Lord calms Isaac’s fear and reassures him of His unbreakable covenant with Abraham—I am with you. Ex. 3:12: The Lord promises to be with His servant, Moses in Egypt. Jos. 1:9: The Lord encourages Joshua of His unwavering support. Isa. 41:10: God promises help and strength to His people. – I am with you. Jer. 1:8: God encourages Jeremiah to stand firm against every opposition. Hag. 1:13: God promises Hagai support for rebuilding the Temple. In the New Testament Matt. 28:20: Jesus Christ assures ongoing support to the church: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt 28:20 NLT). “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Heb. 13:5 BSB). John 14:20: Jesus Christ informs His disciples regarding their future incredible experience of His presence and support. “On that day [when that time comes] you will know for yourselves that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.” AMP. Acts 18:10: Jesus promises Paul protection in a dangerous area. — “I am with you…” The phrase, “I am with you” provides: Guaranteed divine support for individuals across different generations. The unfailing dedication of God toward His children. Divine success: “The LORD [Yahweh] was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did” (Gen. 39:2 NLT). Divine guidance: “For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die” (Ps. 4814 NLT). When the Lord is with you, He will guide every step you take, every move you make, ensuring success in His plan for your life. “I know the plan that I have for you…” Jer. 29:11 Who is the one making the comforting and authoritative statement, “I am with you”? He is no other than: The Great I AM of the past, present and future—John 8:58; Heb. 13:8 The One with all authority: “I have received all authority in heaven and on earth” (Matt. 28:18 NLT). 3. He is Jesus Christ—the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. 4. He is God’s Son. He is Emmanuel — The Eternal God. He is the Omniscient, All-knowing, All-wise God. His is the Omnipresent God: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble” (Ps. 46:1 BSB). 8. He is Omnipotent One. 9. He is The Sovereign God. 10. He is The Righteous One. He is The Ever-loving God—”God is love” (1 John 4:8). He is The Truthful One, embodying veracity. He is the God of equity and justice. He is The Immutable, The Unchangeable God: “I am the LORD [Yahweh—Jesus Christ], and I do not change” (Mal. 3:6). Let us reflect deeply on the authority of the One who says, “I am with you.” Let the truth sink. The phrase, “I am with you” has a different connotation in each dispensation, Old and New. In the OLD Dispensation: The Jews Their worshiping was external, in the temple. They had external contact with Jehovah-God. He never indwelt anyone. He was outside providing support. In the New Dispensation: The Church Notice the big difference. Or as they say in French Vive la difference—Jesus lives in you! You have a homecourt advantage than Abraham, Moses, David and all the Old Testament saints combined. There contact with Jehovah-God was external. Ours is internal, “Jesus in you the hope of glory” (Col. 1 :29). You are carrying the God of the universe wherever you are. Jesus indwells you. His strength is your strength. His power is your power. “My power is perfected in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9). Everywhere you go, He goes with you. Every move you make, He makes with you. When you lie down, He lies down with you (except He doesn’t sleep when we sleep). He is quite awake watching over us. We are now at the heart of our study. We must link the New Testament phrase, “I am with you” to its context—the Great Commission. The Great Commission MATTHEW 28:19, 20 (NLT): “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Remarkably, the word make is the only one in the imperative in the passage. The words Go, baptize, teach are particles; they illustrate how the command, GO is to be obeyed. Jesus Christ assumes that you will go. It is a given. It is the responsibility of every child of God. Jesus Christ has given the church, a supreme command, make disciples.75 views -
COMMUNION SERVICE, Over the last 2,000 years, much has changed: God’s Word never changes. (9-7-25)
countrybiblechurchbrenham-----Complete notes can be downloaded from our website - www.countrybiblechurch.us -----You may contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] We are the Royal Family of God, obeying His command to partake of the Lord’s Supper, in remembrance of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Over the last 2,000 years, much has changed, but God’s Word never changes. 1 Peter 1:24-25 For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25) but the word of the Lord stands forever…" Believers have been partaking of the Lord’s Supper in the same way we do by taking the Bread and the Cup for around 2,000 years. We are eagerly awaiting our Lord Jesus Christ’s return to earth at the rapture which could happen at any time. Meanwhile, It appears that God saved us from the people who hate Him, His Word, believers, and especially President Trump during the 2024 elections and the hate continues. It seems that God could be using him as a restrainer of the anti-Christ. President Trump is doing his best to do away with evil and corruption in order to make our country great again which will keep the anti-Christ at bay. The following verses has to do with God restraining the time of the anti-Christ’s arrival in the Tribulation. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first (Transliterated from Apostisia which comes from the verb Aphistemi which means to draw away or remove) and [then] the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4) who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. This verse shows that Church Age believers will be taken off the earth when Christ returns at the rapture, before the anti-Christ is revealed and before the Tribulation begins. This can be substantiated in (1 Thess. 4:13-18.) 2 Thessalonians 2:5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 2 Thessalonians 2:6-7 And now you know what holding him back (the ministry of the Holy Spirit), so that he (anti-Christ) may be revealed at the proper time. 7) For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back (the H.S.) will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way (at the rapture). Read: 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 The Restrainer will hold the anti-Christ at bay right up to the Rapture. We don’t know the exact time when these things will take place, however, there are many signs and scriptures that indicate that the rapture could be very near. Matthew 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. It appears that we might have a period of time where we can enjoy freedom and peace, but we know that there will be a time when the wickedness, evil, and corruption of the Globalist will take over, but that will be after the rapture, and we will be in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. There are many signs in the Scriptures that are falling into place that suggest that the rapture is near. Ezekiel 37:3-14 The valley of dead bones. Ezekiel 37 and Ezekiel 38 – The Victor of the Nation over Gog and Magog. The Old Testament names for the nations involved in the invasion that will take place in the future Tribulation. All the O.T. nations names have been changed to modern names, and they are in the same locations. Example: Persia – Iran, Gomer & Beth-Togarmah – Turkey, Sheba & Dedan – Saudi Arabia, Put - Libya Numbers 19:1-10 The Law had very specific ways to deal with Red Heifers but there were no perfect Red Heifers for about 2,000 years. That just changed a few weeks ago where they found six perfect Red Heifers (even one white hair on a Heifer would be disqualified) . They went through every detail required. Numbers 19:10 and now the congregation of the sons of Israel shall keep it as water to remove impurity; it is purification from sin. Revelation 13:16-18 And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead, 17) and he provides that no one should be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18) Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.80 views -
EDIFICATION COMPLEX of the SOUL # 4 (& COMMUNION) (7-6-25)
Country Bible Church - Brenham, TXSome Axioms (universal accepted rule) concerning grace: a) God is perfect; His plan is perfect. b) A perfect plan can only originate and function from a perfect God. c) If man can do anything meritorious in the plan of God it is no longer perfect. d) A plan is no stronger than its weakest link. For this reason grace excludes all human merit, all human ability. Grace also excludes any form of human good. e) Legalism and human good is always the enemy of grace. f) Therefore, works of human righteousness have no place in the plan of God. (Isaiah 64:6) g) All human good is associated with the greatest mental attitude sin of pride. 8. There are four areas of Arrogance which reject God’s grace. This explains Satan’s Arrogance, human Arrogance, why Arrogance is the worst and most devastating of mental attitude sins. a) The Arrogance of the believer who rejects the doctrine of eternal security. To say that you can commit a sin that is greater than the plan of God is blasphemous. Hebrews 12:28. b) The Arrogance of the believer who succumbs to pressure and adversity. He thinks his pressure and suffering is greater than the grace provision of God. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10. c) The Arrogance of pseudo spirituality, the believer who thinks his human systems of spirituality are greater than the ministry of God the Holy Spirit. They believe that their sins are more refined than our sins, therefore when he compares himself with us, he thinks he is more spiritual than we are. d) The Arrogance of the believer in emotional revolt of the soul who assumes that his feelings and his emotions and his experiences are more important than Bible doctrine — 2 Corinthians 6:11-12.24 views 1 comment -
FATHER'S DAY - Are you a good father? (6-15-25)
countrybiblechurchbrenham-----Complete notes can be downloaded from our website - www.countrybiblechurch.us -----You may contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] HAPPY FATHER’S DAY June 15, 2025 ARE YOU A GOOD FATHER? ALL MEN ARE MALES BUT NOT ALL MALES ARE MEN. ALL MALES WITH CHILDREN ARE FATHERS, BUT NOT ALL FATHERS ARE MEN. ALL GOOD FATHERS ARE MEN AND THEY’RE OFTEN CALLED DADDY. The Marines need a few good men, but America needs a lot of good fathers! It’s not hard to become a father, but it’s hard to be a good one. It doesn’t take a lot of time to become a father, but it takes a lifetime to be one. Becoming a father isn’t always a matter of choice, but being a good one is. You can’t be a good father if you’re not a good husband. We should be taking advantage of every opportunity to fill our minds with knowledge and truth. We lose the chance to honor and glorify Christ if we are not prepared for the challenges and tests that are sure to come our way. If you are not nourishing your mind and soul with truth and knowledge every day in these times that are evil, you will falter and fail. Truth and knowledge goes out from CBC three times a week. Do you take every advantage of it? countrybiblechurch.us God gave you authority over the family, therefore TAKE CHARGE! 1.Hopefully, this standard was discussed and accepted by your wife before you were married. If it wasn’t, this is a good time for her to learn how God intends marriage and family to operate under the chain of command He has ordained. (Ephesians 5:22-6:4) 2. Since God gave you the leadership role of your family, if things are out of kilter, who is to blame? 3. Men who whine and complain about their households demonstrate that they are not in charge, or they are a lousy leader. 4. The best way to be a good father is to be a good example. Good leaders don’t expect more of those under their charge than what they expect of themselves. If you give them love, respect, encouragement, and praise, you more than likely will get the same in return. 5. Two principles to remember: a. It is normal for subordinates to test those who have authority over them but if you don’t assert your authority, you’ll lose it. But even worse, they will lose respect for you. b. You get exactly what you expect from those under your authority. If you let subordinates be sloppy, lazy, and mediocre, they won’t like or respect you, nor themselves. 6. You don’t have to be a tyrant or dictator to get a lot from those who are responsible to you. You only need to be firm and fair. You shouldn’t feel guilty for making rules and seeing that they are followed. That is you job. 7. Your wife’s respect for you will help teach your children to show proper respect 1. By not correcting or overruling your decisions or what you say. 2. By not giving you orders, shouting, or talking down to you. 3. By treating you like you are the King of the castle. Your wife’s respect for you will help teach your children to show proper respect. TIME: You can’t squeeze an hour in here and there when it is convenient for you to be with your children, call it quality time, and think all is well. You must make special time for them. It is your duty. They are worth it and you will BE very glad you did someday. “A young successful attorney said: “The greatest gift I ever received was a gift I got one Christmas when my dad gave me a small box. Inside was a note saying, “Son, this year I will give you 365 hours, an hour every day after dinner. It’s yours. We’ll talk about what you want to talk about, we’ll go where you want to go, play what you want to play. It will be your hour!” “My dad not only kept his promise,” he said, “but every year he renewed it—and it’s the greatest gift I ever had in my life. I am the result of his time.” “God’s Word has established the dominance of male leader- ship in the home. Children need fathers who consider familiarity with God superior to handling a bat or fixing a doll house; who freely talk to their children about God and to God about their children; and who zealously strive for the Christ-likeness that assures the willing submission of all family members to the husband’s leadership. God wisely provided complementary roles for fathers and mothers, choosing to trust primary responsibility to fathers.”54 views
