Candidates in contested races seeking endorsement from the GRA were allowed five minutes to speak. Gregg Kirkpatrick was granted two minutes because he was already endorsed. Jason Thompson was bestowed thirteen minutes to speak without interruption. To be “fair” Jason Frazier was granted equal time, but he had not prepared a 13-minute speech. Nonetheless, National Committeewoman candidates were disenfranchised by adhering to the strict five-minute limit. Before a second round of voting, the Committeewoman candidates were permitted a single minute to speak. Ginger Howard had already left, so Josh McKoon spoke on her behalf. The convention lasted over 5 hours rather than the advertised 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. timeline. The extra 16 minutes given to the Committeeman candidates and additional 2 minutes given to the Committeewoman candidates plus multiple rounds of voting and a prolonged discussion about electronic voting extended the length of the Endorsement Convention past 4:00 p.m. — especially taxing to the patience of the young children present along with this #Nydeographer creating a public record of the “Anyone can attend” public convention. Ultimately, the GRA did not endorse any candidate for these two Committeeman/Committeewoman races.
