Today we’re going to talk about how to use MCT oil. MCT oil is a type of fat that is unique in that it can quickly turn into ketones through the liver. It doesn’t depend on the gallbladder, enzymes, or a good part of the digestive system, so it’s very efficient. Benefits of MCT oil: • It can help you fast longer • It can give your brain and heart more energy • It can give you more energy while you exercise When you first start taking MCT oil, you have to be careful not to take too much. In this video, I’m going to talk about why, on top of doing the keto diet, you should consider using MCT oil for seizures. Keto has been around for a number of years now. It was used for a situation called drug-resistant epilepsy. This is when drugs wouldn’t work for epileptic seizures. When this happens, they are put on a keto diet. Why didn’t they try the keto diet first? Because there’s not a lot of profit there—medications can be sold at a high price. The keto diet lowers the carbs and increases ketones. In turn, ketones can supply energy to damaged neurons. If there’s a short circuit, there’s typically some kind of damage. If a nerve cell is damaged, glucose is not the right fuel.
