Folk gospel music ahead of its time!

The songs that appear in this playlist were written in the mid-1970s by two 19-year-olds, one of which passed away in 2023. The music was way ahead of its time, and written when mainstream churches used primarily pianos and organs in their worship. (Guitars were generally unthinkable back then.) The original music was created with one acoustical guitar and one six string guitar. The songs were sung by a group called Rapture, consisting of the song writers and women with professional-sounding harmonies. The group performed their songs at various churches (including a Catholic Christmas mass) and at a local shopping mall.
Members of the group matured, got jobs or started families, and went their separate ways, and unfortunately, the songs were never sung again or performed in concert..and may have even been forgotten about...except for a friend who had recorded their music on a cheap audio cassette player. He later recorded his own instrumental arrangements of the songs on a Yamaha keyboard.
This channel consists of the original cassette recordings of Rapture's music along with the instrumental arrangements. Please don't let this music die! Feel free to download the songs you like, and use them in your praise and worship.

Come let us rejoice in the Lord--Use it for praise and worship!
GGeoff and Benny's worship musicThis is one of the most praiseworthy songs that Geoff and Benny's band, Rapture, ever performed. Like all of their songs, it was sung at numerous events in the Columbus, Indiana area. Unfortunately, at that time, contemporary worship services didn't exist, and Rapture's audience only consisted of teens and young adults. Members of the group eventually moved away, grew up, went to college, or started families, and this song was one of many that was buried and forgotten about, never published. But it is now available for you to use. DON'T LET THIS MUSIC DIE!17 views -
Come Let us rejoice in the Lord--instrumental version. Add your voices to praise and worship!
GGeoff and Benny's worship musicThis song was undoubtedly one of the most sophisticated of the Marthaler-Pacheco praise and worship songs. (A recording of a live performance of this song is also in this channel.) Feel free to download this song (I recommend using MediaHuman), then add your own instruments and voices to create your own Praise and worship masterpiece. These songs were never published or recorded professionally. They were never written on staff or manuscript paper. They were improvised compositions that the group practiced and memorized. The songs were only performed and sung for about a year before everyone went their separate ways. (Two of the group's members have since passed away.) The songs have long since been forgotten about, as they are decades old, but they were also ahead of their time and will work well with contemporary worship and acoustic gospel performances. Please DON'T LET THIS MUSIC DIE! USE IT!10 views 1 comment -
One day in the sky--Accoustical guitars and vocalists sing original "new" Christian music
GGeoff and Benny's worship musicIt's new to you! This song was never published or professionally recorded, but a group of young vocalists performed an original, very catchy song called "One Day in the Sky" at a local shopping mall, and it was very well-received. Interestingly, one month earlier, this same song was presented as the closing song at a Christmas day Catholic mass, where it received a standing ovation by the entire congregation. Excuse the audio on this, as it was recorded nearly 50 years ago on a mono Panasonic audio cassette recorder. But even though the song is old and probably forgotten about, it will still sound great in a live contemporary worship service.18 views -
Catchy…upbeat praise and worship: “I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU, LORD!”
GGeoff and Benny's worship musicPerformed by Rapture, an amateur praise band that only existed in Columbus, Indiana for less than two years, this song is simple, but upbeat, and it expresses true praise for the Lord has done in their lives. It was written by Geoff Pacheco and Benny Marthaler (and they sing with the group), who were only 19 years old at the time. Geoff passed away in 2023.3 views -
