1975 Secrets of ISIS Saturday Morning TV Series

Isis, a live-action superhero show produced by Filmation for CBS's Saturday morning lineup. It was later known in syndication as The Secrets of Isis. Original Run: September 6, 1975 – October 23, 1976, with reruns continuing until September 3, 1977. Starring: Joanna Cameron as the lead character. Significance: It was the first weekly, American live-action television series with a female superhero lead. Companion Show: Isis aired as part of "The Shazam!/Isis Hour", and featured crossover episodes with Captain Marvel. The series follows Andrea Thomas, a high school science teacher who discovers an ancient Egyptian amulet that belonged to Queen Hatshepsut. When Andrea holds the amulet and recites "Oh mighty Isis!", she gains the "powers of the animals and the elements". As Isis, she uses abilities like flight and super strength to help people, often her students who are in danger. Each episode concluded with Isis sharing a moral lesson related to the events.
