Three stages of prophecy are 1) given, 2) received, and 3) fulfilled. We live in the time of fulfillment. Before John the Baptist was the time of the prophets. After John the Baptist is the time of the kingdom. Everything that John, Peter, James, and all the New Testament writers give us (including the Lord Jesus Christ Himself) is a restating of the prophecy that has already been given.
