The bottom plate on these machines has an oil anserbent material which becomes very smelly and can easily be removed and discarded

Removing the oil varnish, oiling all pivots and moving parts, greasing the worm gear. Important when purchasing old vintage machines, before starting to use them. This should also improve the sewing speed and overall operation, including very slow sewing speed.

All lubrication and greasing holes and gears

Do not use the cover lubrication holes, there are many more lubrication point on a vintage sewing machine

Possible reason why this pedal controller doesn't have slow sleep, rather starts at high speed right away. Possible fix - make sure you unplug it from the power outlet first

Be aware that some bottles will leak at the cap when in storage

It may be easier to insert the thread and also to sew using a larger size needle which has larger hole/eye and can also take larger size thread if needed

Do NOT use on chromed or mirror like surfaces. Important: be sure to prevent the backing soda from falling on the machine components. This is an abrasive power that can get into moving joints and cause metal wear. Wipe any backing soda debris with a wet cloth when finished.
