1982 Stephen King's CREEPSHOW A George A. Romero Film
MemoryCryptofCastleHills1982 Stephen King's CREEPSHOW A George A. Romero Film. Creepshow is a 1982 American horror comedy anthology film directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King in his screenwriting debut. It consists of five segments intercut with a sixth story acting mostly as an opening and epilogue; two of the segments, "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" and "The Crate", are based on stories by King, while the others are original material he wrote for the film. The film stars an ensemble cast including Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Fritz Weaver, Leslie Nielsen, Carrie Nye, E. G. Marshall, Viveca Lindfors, Ted Danson and Ed Harris, with King and his son Joe portraying the respective main characters of two segments. It was primarily shot on location in Pittsburgh and its suburbs, including Monroeville, where Romero leased an old boys' academy (Penn Hall) to build extensive sets for the film. Creepshow is an homage to the EC horror comics of the 1950s, such as Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror and The Haunt of Fear. In order for the film to give viewers a comic book feel, Romero hired long-time effects specialist Tom Savini to replicate comic-like effects.112 views -

1987 CREEPSHOW 2
MemoryCryptofCastleHillsIn 1987, I was 23 years old and had to see the follow up to CREEPSHOW in theaters. Creepshow 2 is a 1987 American comedy horror anthology film directed by Michael Gornick, and the sequel to Creepshow. Gornick was previously the cinematographer of the first film, and the screenplay was written by George A. Romero who was director of the original film. The film's stars were Lois Chiles, George Kennedy, Dorothy Lamour, and Tom Savini. It was once again based upon stories by Stephen King. Prologue: In the small town of Dexter, Maine, a delivery truck pulls up to a newsstand. Billy, a young boy, eagerly follows the truck on his bike. The truck's back shutter opens to reveal the Creep, who drops off copies of the latest issue of Creepshow (which has the same cover as the comic in the final scene of the previous film) before vanishing. Billy picks up an issue and begins to read it. Old Chief Wood'nhead In a small town called Dead River, Ray and Martha Spruce are an elderly couple who run the small town's general store, whose décor includes a cigar store Indian named "Old Chief Wood'nhead." The Spruces are visited by Benjamin Whitemoon, the elder of a local Native American tribe, who gives them a bag of turquoise jewelry, his tribe's sacred treasures, as collateral for the debt the tribe has incurred. The Raft In mid-October, four college students, Deke, Laverne, Randy, and Rachel, arrive at Cascade Beach, a desolate lake far from civilization, for some fun. While swimming to a wooden raft in the middle of the lake, Randy witnesses a duck being pulled under the water by an unseen force. Once all four students are on the raft, they discover what Randy was so nervous about: a large, black, blob-like creature resembling an oil slick floating on the surface of the water. As Rachel leans over the raft to try and touch the creature, it grabs hold of Rachel, pulls her into the lake, and digests her. The three panicking students remember that it's currently the off-season, meaning that there is no caretaker to rescue them anytime soon. The Hitch-hiker Annie Lansing, an adulterous Maine businesswoman, wakes up and gets out of bed after sleeping with her gigolo lover. Annie realizes that she only has 15 minutes before her attorney husband George arrives home, so she hops into her car and races for home several miles away. A spilled ember from her cigarette causes Annie to lose control at a slippery corner, where she runs down a Dover-bound hitchhiker. Seeing that no one witnessed the incident, Annie takes off and doesn't look back. Shortly after she leaves, however, the area is crowded with a truck driver, a pair of passersby, and George, who reports the hit-and-run to the police.87 views -

He grabs one of the issues out of the crate, then turns to the audience, and laughs. After the opening credits, there is an advertisement for other Creepshow issues. "Gray Matter": During Hurricane Charlie, a group of townspeople are huddled together in a store to wait out the coming storm. They are met by local boy Timmy Grenadine (Christopher Nathan), who nervously asks for a case of Harrow's Supreme beer for his alcoholic father Richie (Jesse C. Boyd). When Timmy mentions that his father is "real sick" and doesn't want to go back home, the chief of police (Tobin Bell) and his friend Doc (Giancarlo Esposito) volunteer to check on him. While they travel to Timmy's house, Timmy explains to shopkeeper Dixie (Adrienne Barbeau) that after Richie's wife died, his drinking problem spiraled out of control. After drinking a "bad beer" one day, Richie gradually mutated into a gelatinous monster with a taste for human flesh. When the chief discovers the monster, he tries to put it down, only for the creature to absorb him and begin multiplying. Doc runs back to the store to report on what has happened as Dixie calculates that within only six days, the creatures will take over the entire world and drive humanity to extinction. The hands of the multiplied creatures then break in through the ceiling and grab Doc as he, Dixie, and Timmy scream.73 views -
CREEPSHOW The House of the Head
MemoryCryptofCastleHills"The House of the Head" is the second segment of the premiere episode of the Creepshow television series, which first aired on September 26, 2019. It was written by Josh Malerman (author of Bird Box) and directed by John Harrison. The story follows Evie, a young girl who owns an elaborate dollhouse inhabited by a doll family she calls the Smithsmiths. The Discovery: Evie discovers a miniature, ghoulish severed head inside the dollhouse that was not there before. The Haunting: Every time Evie looks away and returns, the figurines have moved into new, terrified positions, while the severed head slowly stalks them through the rooms. Failed Protection: Evie attempts to help the dolls by adding "protector" figurines—including a police officer and a Native American figure (Old Chief Wood'n Head from Creepshow 2)—but they are found decapitated by the head. The Climax: After finding her doll family murdered, Evie angrily throws the head across her bedroom. She later finds it under her bed, having grown to human size. Resolution: To protect herself, she manages to lock the now-large head back into the dollhouse and convinces her parents to sell the haunted toy at a yard sale. Evie: Played by Cailey Fleming. Parents: Played by Rachel Hendrix and David Shae. Style: Unlike its companion segment "Gray Matter," which relies on gore and creature effects, "The House of the Head" is noted for its minimalistic approach, using static shots and the unsettling repositioning of inanimate dolls to build psychological dread.33 views
