Big Bass

After missing a huge bass the last time I went kayak fishing, I made up for it with one that was almost as large. Enjoy the video! Thanks for watching.

After missing the last two fish of the day, I decided to make a few casts by the dock before I loaded up my Old Town Topwater PDL and headed home. I was lucky enough to hook this 5 lb bass and have a nice little battle before I finished.

When I am out fishing and the access ramp isn't busy, I like to make a few casts to the docks and area around the ramp. Many people will skip fishing in the area of the ramp and head straight out to their fishing spot. They will also head straight to the ramp in order to exit the water without ever fishing in the area. If you ignore fishing this area, you may be missing out on some decent fish.

I started fishing a little bit later than normal on this warm June day. With a little patience I was able to catch some pretty nice bass. This is the video of the largest bass that I caught that day. I hope you enjoy another video of a 5 pound Florida Largemouth. Thanks for watching.

Rick spent several hours at McKibben Park last week. He caught 11 bass total. His largest of the day was this 5 pound 5 oz fighter. Thanks for watching.

Rick has once again picked up the slack while I am recovering. He decided to put his kayak in at McKibben Park and had a great day of fishing. He caught 15 total largemouth. His largest catch was a 4-10 off a brush pile. He was using a watermelon red wacky worm. Unfortunately the camera battery had to be changed during the catch and we missed some of the footage of weighing and measuring the bass. This is the video of that catch. With the colder temperatures hanging around SW Florida for almost the entire month of January, I didn't get out fishing very much. When I did get out, I wasn't catching anything over a couple of pounds. So, with the first 80 degree day in several weeks, we finally got out. I wasn't expecting to catch anything of any size because the water was still very cold for our area. Boy was I in for a surprise. The largest bass I have caught since before my last back surgery was just waiting for me to throw the right lure. Enjoy.
