Winter is almost here — you can feel it in the air, sharp and close. This is our last real window to gather anything the world will give us: rabbit traps to check, ponds to fish before they ice over, stumps to clear, frogs to smack (with Abigail absolutely thriving), and a whole cluster of carrots I casually mentioned existed northeast… which immediately became my job to fetch. There’s this frantic rhythm to the day: gather, run, harvest, run, fish, run — hoping the cold doesn’t hit before I make it back to camp. The morning starts peacefully enough — checking rabbit traps, gathering food, grabbing whatever winter supplies we can — until I stumble across the spider glands I needed for potion-crafting. Suddenly I’m in full alchemist mode: healing potions? Made. Shield potion for Abigail? Absolutely. I’m feeling generous, thinking these potions might be for all of us, until NightFlurry gently informs me that these are really just… for Abigail. So here I am with a near-invincible ghost sister, four healing brews, and one outrageously strong shield potion. Naturally, we decide this means it’s time to bully the spiders. Math, Abigail, and I march straight into spider territory and absolutely dominate. It’s glorious. It’s chaotic. It’s working… Right up until a Spider Queen erupts out of the nest like she owns the place. We run. We run immediately. Turns out bravery has limits — especially when winter is nearly upon us. Winter is creeping closer with every sunrise, which means I should be laser-focused on gathering food, stocking supplies, and preparing for the cold. Instead… well… a tiny ghost needed help, and I’m apparently incapable of saying no to adorable supernatural side quests. He’s lost his little toys, scattered all over creation, and every time we return one he rewards us with morning glories — strange, glowing petals that feel almost magical. By the time we bring him the last toy, he showers us in them, and suddenly we’re standing here holding the makings of actual potions. A healing potion? Tempting. A shield potion for Abigail — my ghostly sister-in-arms? Even more tempting. But I’m still learning how all this works, and the sun doesn’t wait for indecision.
