CNN Panel: Is the Republican Ship Sinking?
GrabienRUSH TRANSCRIPT: In for Abby Phillip. What a year this week has been for Donald Trump. Less than 24 hours after Rob Reiner‘s tragic murder, the president verbally attacked the late director and claimed he died because he was highly critical of Trump. There was a bipartisan response not okay. And Trump‘s chief of staff gives a stunning series of interviews. She reveals what she really thinks of several advisers and Trump policies, and even gives a surprising assessment of her boss, saying he has the personality of an alcoholic. Plus, Trump delivers a forceful and fast paced prime time address. He said America‘s problems are not his fault, but that he‘s fixed them. Reaction from both sides of the aisle. Also, he and the Republican led house go on vacation without a solution on health care, despite prices for millions of Americans about to skyrocket. And last and probably least, he hung plaques mocking his predecessors on the walls of the White House. That, too, was criticized by some in the Republican Party. So what does this all tell us? Listen to a variety of opinions. >> The Republicans are losers. Why are you bending the knee at this point in time? The ship be sinking. It‘s over. This is the titanic. I don‘t get it. >> I am not scared of that guy. I‘m not. This is the first time I‘ve seen a Donald Trump I‘m not afraid of. >> I think the dam is breaking. That is a sign where you‘re seeing Republicans. They‘re entering the campaign phase for 2026, which is a large signal that lame duck season has begun >> All right. So I guess the big question is a couple of things. Is the ship sinking? Is the dam breaking? I will start with you, Joe. >> Is the ship sinking? Is the dam breaking? It is thinking how how it‘s stinky and it‘s sinking, but it is too early. Definitely drinking coffee. How in god‘s name are we talking about? What a week it was for Donald Trump when the biggest issue he ran on the economy, right. That‘s what he talked about. He talked about the economy and immigration on the economy. Two great numbers came in on inflation. It is being reduced. Things are going absolutely in the right direction on inflation and on the jobs and sorry, on the jobs numbers. So things are going absolutely great for the president. And I think it‘s absurd that we can talk about how bad of a week he‘s having when America is having such a good week. >> So inflation did cool to 2.7%. that was a good thing for consumers. But when it comes to jobs, the job numbers are are concerning to a lot of Americans. The unemployment was at 4% when he took office. It‘s now at about 4.6%, one of the highest unemployment rates since 2021. How do you see it? Kari. >> First and foremost, I. God bless you. The thinking I was teasing him. Oh, it‘s all right. Just have a little fun. I wanted to address your saying the president had a good week. When Americans are having a good week, I just don‘t see what America do you live in right now? I‘m a little concerned by that. I think the president is having an awful week. We‘re talking about Rob Reiner, his unhinged tweet. What is your answer to that? That‘s not a great week. This man inserted himself in a brutal double murder and made it about himself. >> What affects me more? Rob Reiner and something he said, or how the economy is doing. Yeah. >> But you can‘t. >> You can‘t, you can‘t. >> This is what this is what we do, right? We sort of we go like this to some of it and then we embrace other. First of all, it‘s 2.7 versus 3%. it‘s 3/10 of 1%. so it‘s not like money‘s falling from the sky. >> Is it a good thing or a bad thing. >> It‘s not a bad thing, but it‘s not a great thing. It‘s a good thing. But go to my neighbors who are still spending. My wife wants to get a notebook for me. I want a five by five, $15 for notebook. I‘m not kidding you. Okay, so people aren‘t feeling it at home. So when he. When he does this thing with Rob Reiner. Look, this was a hug your kid moment for everybody in this country, right? Everybody‘s part of a family. Everybody‘s got problems in their family. This brutal thing happens. It was. It could have been a win for him. >> And it also speaks to his mental acuity. He can‘t get it, speaks to his mental acuity. If you want to take time out, especially we‘re out. We‘re moments after bondi beach and you want to take time out to talk about what you want to have revenge. And we still don‘t. Unemployment is a huge issue. Numbers are not right. We‘re just now finding that out. And to your point, the inflation37 views -
Chris Matthews Loses It over Trump Renaming Kennedy Center: ‘It’s Mussolini Stuff!’
GrabienTur: “Let’s talk about JFK.” MATTHEWS: “Yeah, I think —“ Tur: “Anything to add?” MATTHEWS: “I got the statue here. This is the one that you see in the Kennedy Center right there when you walk into the building. There it is. It’s the Kennedy Center. And I think this is going to be like the Avenue of the Americas. Katy, I call it Sixth Avenue. I don’t know about you. It’s always going to be Sixth Avenue. But this appendage, this chiseling in of his own name, I don’t think it’s going to last any longer than his casinos or his university or his sneakers or all the other crap that he’s named after it. I hope it disappears the day he leaves.” Tur: “Why does he want to do this, Chris?” MATTHEWS: “You know, it’s Mussolini stuff. It’s like bringing back Rome of the past. The legacy of the Roman Empire or something. I think — what is this empire? It’s up there. It’s going to last through the next three years. I can’t fathom it sometimes. I wonder who’s he kidding? Are the real MAGA people out there who are going to come to the Trump center that never came to the Kennedy Center before? I mean, John F. Kennedy was a hero. I mean, if you — I’ve written about him, a guy who carried a man on his back when he had a bad back to begin with, the other guy on his back for four hours through Japanese waters to save the other guy’s life. I mean, what did Trump ever do like that? What a heroic statement has he ever made for history? I mean, there’s a reason why Kennedy was honored by the Kennedy Center. He was shot and killed doing his job as president, campaigning. And everybody loved him. His popularity was 70 some percent. What’s Trump’s? 33 or something? I mean, there’s no — there’s nothing to honor here. I don’t understand. I’m not a Trump hater. It’s what he does that drives me crazy. He refused to concede the election in 2020, which has always been an American tradition. Go on television, like we’re on now, and tell the American people you lost the election. That’s how we know the election was honest, because the loser tells us so. Trump wouldn’t do that. And then he led an attack on the U.S. Capitol, our democracy itself. And now he’s crashing down our cultural center. It’s like — it is an invasion of Trump. I think it gets worse and worse.” Tur: “We just — by the way, we’re showing this because this happened just a moment ago. The tarp coming down. This is — it’s finished. There it is. The Donald J. Trump and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. His name is first, as you’ll notice. Chris, this is also part and parcel with something that we saw on Monday, or on Sunday, really, after Rob Reiner, was discovered that Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle were murdered, Donald Trump felt the need pretty quickly to insert himself into it and to make the murder about him, that they were murdered because they didn’t like him. So there’s that aspect of it. Then there’s this. It seems like he is — the compulsion to be a part of every single conversation, to be a part of every single statue that matters or memorial that matters or touchstone that matters. This compulsion to insert himself into everything. Has there ever been a person in American life that comes close to that obsession?” MATTHEWS: “I think that’s true, but it’s not so much jamming his name into it. It could be that that’s how he sees reality. Why doesn’t he help Ukraine defend its national existence to itself? Why? Because Zelenskyy refused to help him put the nail on Hunter Biden. These little personal things. Why does he like the North Korean president? Why does he like, in his strange way, Putin? He hates the dead Rob Reiner more than he likes — more than he dislikes Putin. Why does he hate Rob Reiner in his death? So recently, this grotesquery of his death? Rob Reiner was a great guy. He was a great director and a great human being. And I argued with him a lot. I mean, we’d argue about the Kennedy assassination. You can disagree with somebody a lot and really like him and still say, what is this perversion? But it isn’t just, as you say, like he’s putting — he’s chiseling his name onto the Kennedy Center. Does he think he’s in charge of American culture? Does he think he’s going to help us understand that it’s Sylvester Stallone should win the Kennedy Center honor, or, I’m sorry, the Trump honor? Is he going to make it the Trump honor, the Trump — the Trump-Kennedy honors? Are we going to be stuck with that for a while? Well, we will, because we got Secretary of War. We’ve got Gulf of America, and now we’ve got the Trump-Kennedy. And by the way, that ‘and’ looks — doesn’t that seem the oddest thing to see the A-N-D up there like ‘and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.’ That’s a strange looking title up there. It’s like, I don’t know, it’s Trump and I don’t know. I think it’s, what you say, he has become part of our — I can’t go out to dinner with a family, a couple in Washington, D.C., without the conversation ending up on Trump. And it’s usually devastating, but it ends up that way. It’s like people can’t get —“ Tur: “Yeah. No, I hear you.” MATTHEWS: “Thank you for that. This is like the Academy Awards here.” Tur: “Yeah. No, it’s compulsive.” MATTHEWS: “It’s time to get off the stage.”66 views 1 comment -

Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle helped Norm Eisen create one of his lawfare nonprofits
Question EverythingRob Reiner and his wife Michelle helped Norm Eisen create one of his lawfare nonprofits, in the name of democracy of course. Apparently Norm and Rob were scheduled to meet yesterday to discuss the 2026 elections. Rob Reiner’s attacks on Trump were no doubt about character assassination which is a color revolution tactic that Norm employs often. https://x.com/listen_2learn/status/2001047413772181971?s=20230 views 1 comment -
