The Moody Blues were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in May 1964. The band initially consisted of Graeme Edge (drums), Denny Laine (guitar/vocals), Mike Pinder (keyboards/vocals), Ray Thomas (multi-instrumentalist/vocals) and Clint Warwick (bass/vocals). Originally part of the British beat and R&B scene of the early–mid 1960s, the band came to prominence with the UK No. 1 and US Top 10 single "Go Now" in late 1964/early 1965. Laine and Warwick both left the band in 1966, with Edge, Pinder and Thomas recruiting new members Justin Hayward (guitar/vocals) and John Lodge (bass/vocals). They embraced the psychedelic rock movement of the late 1960s, with their 2nd album, 1967's Days of Future Passed, being a fusion of rock with classical music (performed with the London Festival Orchestra) that established the band as pioneers in the development of art rock and progressive rock. It has been described as a "landmark" and "one of the 1st successful concept albums".
Their records were among the most successful in the progressive rock genre and produced hits such as "Nights in White Satin".
In the 1980s they took on a more synth-pop sound.
The Moody Blues sold 70 million albums worldwide, including 18 platinum and gold LPs. They produced 16 studio albums, 6 of which made the US Top 20 (with two reaching No. 1) and 8 of which made the UK Top 20 (with three reaching No. 1). They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

A Question of Balance is the 6th album by the Moody Blues (the 5th by this particular line-up), released in 1970. The album reached No. 1 in the UK and No. 3 in the US. The album was recorded between January and June 1970 at both Wessex Sound Studios and the band's familiar Studio One at Decca studios in West Hempstead. The sessions were a departure from their studio practice on the previous album, To Our Children's Children's Children, featuring minimal overdubs and an simpler, more natural sound that the band could more readily replicate on stage. The album cover is a vertical gate-fold created by Phil Travers. The collage of pictures of the band in the center of the album's gate-fold was produced by projecting several images onto a single screen. It's been certified Platinum in the US and Canada. The Moody Blues ) Octave ) 1978 (London Records Canada)
THE FABULOUS VINYL LIFEYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Octave is the 9th album by The Moody Blues (the 8th by this particular line-up), released in 1978, and their 1st release after a substantial hiatus following the success of the best-selling Seventh Sojourn in 1972. Octave produced a reduced commercial outcome for the band, but reached No. 6 in the UK and went platinum in the US, where the album reached No. 13. The album produced the hit single "Steppin' in a Slide Zone", which hit No. 39 in the US, in addition to "Driftwood". The album's title is a musical pun: it references both the notion of an octave; and as a word derived from the Latin octavus it refers to this being the 8th album by this line-up of the Moody Blues (following on from the previous album title Seventh Sojourn). The cover art was designed by artist John Kosh, famous for his work with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, among others. The Moody Blues ) Long Distance Voyager ) 1981 (Threshold UK)
THE FABULOUS VINYL LIFEYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Long Distance Voyager is the 10th album by the Moody Blues released in May 1981 on the group's Threshold record label. The album was recorded at the band's own Threshold Studios. It was the 1st album featuring keyboardist Patrick Moraz (who previously had worked with bands such as Refugee and Yes) in place of co-founder Mike Pinder, who left after the Octave album in 1978. Upon release in 1981, Long Distance Voyager became the Moody Blues' 2nd American number one album, and was also the source of the US Top 20 singles "Gemini Dream" (No. 12) and "The Voice" (No. 15) on the Billboard Hot 100. A 3rd single, "Talking Out of Turn", only reached No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 but reached No. 27 in Canada. It also continued the Moody Blues' winning streak in their native UK, reaching No. 7 there. Besides the singles, two songs from the album charted on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. "Meanwhile" charted at No. 11 and "22,000 Days" charted at No. 38. The cover for the album was based on a painting entitled Punch (1840) by Thomas Webster printed for the Art Union of Glasgow, while the sleeve was based on a concept by the Moody Blues which was designed by Cream, who were in charge of the album's cover artwork. NASA's Voyager spacecraft is at the top of the front side of the album cover. Both Voyager 1 and Voyager 2's flybys of Saturn were in the news in 1980–81. It's been certified Platinum in the US and 3x Platinum in Canada.
