A recent National Geographic article alluded to a scientific formula that "proves" we will find life in the Galaxy. My ears pricked up at that because normally neither search for extraterrestrial intelligence nor evolution have any mathematical formulas that could be used to prove or falsify a statement. In September 1959, physicists Giuseppe Cocconi and Philip Morrison published an article in the journal Nature with the provocative title "Searching for Interstellar Communications." Cocconi and Morrison argued that radio telescopes had become sensitive enough to pick up transmissions that might be broadcast into space by civilizations orbiting other stars. Soon thereafter, Radio astronomer Frank Drake hosted a "search for extraterrestrial intelligence" meeting on detecting their radio signals. The meeting was held in 1961. The equation that bears Drake's name arose out of his preparations for the meeting and is touted as proof of the existence of life in the galaxy. SETI is still searching! What it proves depends on the assumptions and guesses you put into the equation.

Young Earth Creationism is rejected and ridiculed by the unbelieving world. This is not surprising. The Son of God lived among mankind and was rejected as well. But when professing evangelical leaders, churches, and organizations misinterpret the early chapters of Genesis into Old Earth Theory, the ramifications are far beyond "we'll just have to agree to disagree." In this presentation, David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview radio program, will explain how a young earth both exposes and answers man's fundamental problem.

Did the events of the Exodus have correlations with events in other parts of the world? Was the sun standing still over Gibeon only a local miracle or did it affect the entire world? Did the reversal of the sundial in the time of Hezekiah have anything to do with the destruction of Sennacherib's army of 185,000? Why did Ovid write "the sun's chariot roamed through unknown regions... the earth bursts into flame... Aetna is blazing boundlessly"? How could these events be related?
