May 2025 President’s Message - Gentle Words, Strong Impact: Building Understanding Through Dialogue
ShieldofTruthNetworkI just completed a speaking engagement this past weekend for another organization and was able to platform STN, who we are, what we stand for, and what we have accomplished. I made two main points in my presentation. The first is something that I have discussed over the years with our members during our monthly meetings, that being that we must be gentle as we educate others. All too often, I hear individuals on both sides of an issue overwhelming those that they are engaging in a “discussion” with by almost assaulting them with their thoughts, opinions, and facts. My experience has been that this form of “education,” which may be well-intentioned perhaps, ends in not only elevated voices, but also increased passions about the topic, and ultimately increased tempers as well. During my talk, I asked the audience to consider Hebrews 5:2 when educating others and educate gently. The other point that I made was that we need to “spoon-feed” information as we educate others. Give a little information at a time, and when the person is ready to accept more, then move forward with more information. So, remember always to be gentle and spoon-feed those whom you are edifying. I know that you will get much better results. Also, always remember to show compassion and understanding to those that perhaps have been misled or have misinterpreted the issues or something that they have heard. Remember, there are many different perspectives on an issue, and try to listen before you speak. Give the other person time to explain their position. Grace in all situations and “exchanges” is always accepted by the other person and will generate much more cooperation and a much less heated discussion. As far as our future, we have some wonderful things that we are doing right now. Of course, first and foremost is our May monthly meeting. We will be hosting our 2025 STN Annual Scholarship Award winner, who will be presenting her essay to our audience. We will also be hosting, as our guest speaker, Roslyn Ross Williams from Americans for Prosperity. Beyond that, we are currently working out the details for a “Special Event.” This event is planned for July, and we will be spotlighting a wonderfully talented individual who has detailed insight into election issues that will be of value to all of us relative to what has gone on here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and in our surrounding four counties. So, those of you in Montgomery, Bucks, Lehigh, and Berks Counties will be shocked by what you hear, and what you can do about it. We will also be hosting our speaker’s wife, who will be joining us one day after an event that she will be presenting at Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey. She serves as a State Representative from Maricopa County, Arizona, and she will also have some informative insights to share about what has gone on out there as well. So, gear up for these events. They will both be eye-openers for everyone and will arm you with information and action steps to engage and make meaningful changes in the issues that are currently frustrating many within our election process. Remember, STN needs you! Your skills, abilities, assets, and talents will help us to move the needle further in the right direction. So, please get off the bench and stop being a spectator. Join the fight and engage with us to make the necessary changes to save not only our Constitutional Republic, but our schools and our communities. See you on Tuesday, May 26th at 7 p.m. at Hope Valley Community Church for our May monthly meeting. I am looking forward to seeing you there. April 2025 President’s Message – "What Just Happened, and Why?"
ShieldofTruthNetworkApril 2025 President’s Message – "What Just Happened, and Why?" Many who are observing the occurrence of the last several months are beginning to wonder exactly what is happening and why. Some examples that brought this question to light are the loss of a legislative seat in the Lancaster area. This has now contributed to swinging the balance of our state legislature even further to the left. Some ask how this happened in what was thought to be a strongly Republican district. We can also cite the loss in Wisconsin’s State Supreme Court election, in which Susan Crawford won over Republican Brad Schimel. This now gives the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s seven-member body a heavily weighted liberal majority. Then there was the special election in Allegheny County in which a Democrat won a seat as well. However, that result was expected, so that really was no surprise. Now let’s move on from state to national events. Here you can take your pick from the plethora of events happening every day at light speed. We have witnessed mass deportations of gang members and other illegals, the border being essentially shut down, fentanyl seizures, Liberation Day with multiple countries receiving the imposition of like tariffs, and those countries coming back asking to negotiate the tariffs. We have also seen the attacks on Tesla dealerships and Tesla cars and owners, and the stock market plunging and surging again like a yo-yo swinging up and down. I could go on, but I think that we get it. The bottom line is that these certainly are uncertain times for many. Things are definitely in a major flux. However, we must ask ourselves, why are we seeing some of the unexpected outcomes from the list of events that I just outlined? I believe that the answer in large part revolves around emotions and education. First of all, the stock market always responds to investors’ emotions. Fear and uncertainty are what caused the great stock market crash of the 1930s, and we are seeing those same emotional responses today. People are uncertain about what will be the ultimate outcome of what the President is doing with his “reciprocal tariffs.” The public is also afraid that they are going to lose their jobs, and some have already, particularly those in the public sector who were employed in bloated federal departments. We see that many government jobs are being eliminated with consolidation and elimination of federal departments. Those who have become used to working from home since the COVID days are being called back to the office. For that matter, many government offices that have not been occupied for years, yet for which we (our tax dollars) have been paying to the tune of millions, if not billions, of dollars a month are being sold. Here is a list of the buildings for sale: Here's a Map of the For-Sale Government Properties the GSA Pulled from Its Website "WIRED". Perhaps you can get yourself a bargain. Link: www.wired.com/story/map-for-sale-government-properties-gsa/ Elon Musk and his team have been uncovering so much waste, fraud, and reckless spending that also has been costing us literally billions and ultimately trillions of dollars in our hard-earned tax dollars. Keep your eye on what is being revealed regarding savings of your hard-earned tax dollars at the DOGE Live Tracker: Link: doge-tracker.com So, we see what is happening, but the real question is why? And there are many reasons for these responses to what is taking place in our country every day. First of all, we need to realize that our country is, and has been, on the verge of failing for decades due to our balance sheet. When a country, like a business, operates at a loss, it doesn’t take long for failure to occur. Case in point is the 36-trillion-dollar deficit that the United States currently serves a debt service on. If you haven’t already taken a look at the national debt clock, here it is: U.S. National Debt Clock: Real Time. That debt amounts to $107,338 for every person living in America. Net interest on our national debt is currently estimated at $396 billion. These figures are hard to outline for you because they change every minute. However, the total interest payment on the debt far exceeds spending on the VA, which amounts to a mere $170 billion, and is only marginally exceeded by national defense at $399 billion, Medicare ($443 billion), and Social Security ($631 billion). The CBO (Congressional Budget Office) estimates that payments on the US debt, if unchanged, will be $13.8 trillion over the next decade, which would be a rise from the 2026 annual cost of $1.0 trillion to $1.8 trillion in 2035. So, you can see that this would be unsustainable if left unchecked over the coming years and decades. This is the impetus for much of what we see occurring. However, the ignorance relative to these facts is what is prompting some of what I have outlined above. But there is much more to this equation than just these facts. You see, I believe that a larger part of the picture beyond the ignorance, at least on our side of the aisle, is that we have become comfortable and complacent. And what President Trump is doing is causing us to feel uncomfortable and waking us up. Unfortunately, human nature dictates that we should maintain comfort. So, we have been willing to ignore the prodding of such individuals as Ron and Rand Paul and, going back to Ross Perot, who ran for President in 1992 and again in 1996. They have been warning us, but unfortunately we are now there. The true reason that we have seen the losses that I outlined at the beginning of my message to you this month is because we have become “complacent.” I see this in the outcomes of the elections that I just noted. I see it in conversations that I have every day with patients, family members, and friends. I even see it with some of our membership here at STN. However, I am sounding the ALARM today! We must wake up, get off the couch, and realize that the “opposition team” is rallying the troops. They are raising funds. They are sounding the alarm on their side too. If we don’t wake up, engage, and start moving from our comfy couches to the trenches, everything that you have seen occurring to turn the ship will end. You see, the midterm elections are only a short time away. If we cannot maintain the slim margins that we hold in the House and Senate, it will be over. We have control of both houses of Congress right now, as well as the Executive Branch of our government. But if the slim majority that we hold in the House is lost, it is all over. Impeachment proceedings and an avalanche of bills to halt the progress will be put forth. The only thing that would be worse would be if we lost control of both the House and the Senate. We also have a number of statewide elections on such things as retention of State Supreme Court Judges, Commonwealth Court, and Superior Court elections. Oh, and don’t forget our all-important School Board Elections. Therefore, my plea to you all is to ENGAGE, get off of the bench, and make a difference. Don’t let what we just saw play out in Lancaster County here in Pennsylvania, or what occurred with the Wisconsin Supreme Court, occur again. Remember, if that does occur, the momentum that we have right now will be over. We will gradually slide back into a state of debt, dependency, and ultimately, dare I say, “FINANCIAL DISASTER” and collapse! I trust that you can see the urgency of my message. We are all in this together, and unity is the key to our success and ultimate outcome of “saving our Republic.” Remember, the war is far from over, and the battles are raging. I want to thank you for recognizing the gravity of our current situation and for re-engaging and joining the fight! March 2025 President's Message - "What Can We Offer?"
ShieldofTruthNetworkRecently, STN’s Board of Directors has been discussing what we offer to our members, our community, our Commonwealth, and our Republic. As you know, we stand by and focus our attention on our three core values. Our Biblical Foundation, upon which all of our decisions and actions must stand, or they will be fruitless. Our Constitutional Framework, which we work diligently to act as watchmen over in order to recognize and thwart any assaults against the laws of our great nation. And, of course, our Educational Keystone, without which we are neutered. Yes, our well-managed and accurate dissemination of truthful and insightful information is certainly a cornerstone of our efforts. As we read in I Corinthians 1:27, “Christians clearly do believe in using their minds to weigh the evidence and make wise choices.” STN strives to aid in the ability of our members to make these wise and decisive choices by forwarding information that is truthful and accurate to the best of our ability. But what else is it that we all strive to give in all of our efforts here at STN? Well, one of the often-unrecognized benefits of our organization is our ability to unify. Actually, that single word was the calling that brought a small group of like-minded individuals together to start the movement that became the Shield of Truth Network Inc. These pioneers recognized that we were being marginalized and divided. At that time, we recognized that the concepts being espoused by many of our national and local leaders were certainly “non-Biblical.” For that reason, the calling went out to us to resist and fight the evil intent behind the divisive rhetoric that was being fed to the populace on a daily basis. That is one of the benefits that STN offers to our members—the unification of like-minded individuals who could coalesce around commonly held values and principles that we saw being eroded and taken away. Another benefit of engagement in STN’s efforts is the feeling of purpose that many have voiced to me in one way or another. Purpose is important in any endeavor that a person engages in, and we certainly have a purpose in everything that we do. Still, another benefit that is important to many is something that I just mentioned—engagement. Engagement in revealing the truth in so many aspects of our lives, including the things occurring in our society, our culture, and our political environment. As I have said before, things don’t always appear to us as they are, and we must expose the realities to those who take everything they see and hear as the truth. As I also have often said, evil takes a small truth and wraps it in a big lie. We need to follow our gospel teachings, and regardless of the difficulties and hardships that we may experience, we must engage in exposing the basic truths that we live by and believe in. Engagement is a way to avoid the frustration of just listening to the droning rhetoric in the news. We strive to not only expose the truth but act on those truths to have a positive impact on others. I could continue with other benefits that I have witnessed in those taking the lead in so many things that STN is working on, like the peace that comes from being a part of the solution, the strength of witnessing the accomplishments of your efforts, and the benefits of participating in the change necessary to alter the trajectory of our communities, our Commonwealth, and our nation. I want to thank you all for participating in our efforts at whatever level you currently are. I also thank you for accepting the mission and the calling that you have. You are a part of our organization, and you are benefiting from your engagement in the activities and actions of STN. February 2025 President's Message - "What is Happening?"
ShieldofTruthNetworkThat is a question that many are asking themselves on both sides of the aisle. We are seeing the implementation of plans that have taken four years to put together, and they are being implemented at light speed. The playbook has been written and is so detailed that every day we see the implementation of the plans for that specific day. It is happening so fast that the opposition doesn’t know which way to look because every single day there is a new bend in the road for them. So, they have to let up on the last issue that they were concerned about, and now they have to pivot to the new issue of the day. It is overwhelming to them, and they use the same old techniques and tactics to attempt to deal with it. Unfortunately, though, they just aren’t working anymore. Yes, the majority of the voting populace has spoken, and they are, for the most part, happy with what they are seeing. But that brings me to the concern that must be addressed right now. That concern is becoming more and more evident with each passing day. You see, I sadly see that people are becoming content. It’s kind of like eating that big Thanksgiving dinner and then going into a “food coma” afterward. You end up lying on the couch and watching holiday movies for the rest of the afternoon. You see, contentment leads to apathy, the feeling that everything is taken care of. Sort of like when we were kids. Mom took care of the meals, we had clothes provided for us, and a warm home to live in. What more did we need? Everything was taken care of, so we could go out to play ball, ride our bikes, and go fishing. You see, what I am observing is the same form of contentment. Many feel that everything is being taken care of for us. Unfortunately, I have to say, “It just ain’t so, folks!” You see, there are roadblocks being placed in the way every time a new initiative is announced. And if you think that since things are being cleaned up on a federal level, all is well locally, I have news for you. The battles on the state and local levels are going to continue raging on and perhaps even be magnified in order to combat the federal mandates. For these reasons, I would like to encourage everyone who is becoming content with what they are seeing occur to remain in the fight. Do not become a “bench sitter.” Perhaps you are falling into the trap of just watching and checking from time to time to make sure that all is going well from your perspective. I have news for you: You must remain vigilant and stay in the game. Don’t let contentment lead to apathy. You also can’t fall into the trap of listening to those who are angry and distraught over what they see happening. You have to avoid contentment, and we definitely cannot become apathetic. I want you to understand that there are some on this side who support the President; however, they are becoming concerned about some of the cuts that are being implemented or proposed. For those of you out there who are listening to the hyperbole about tariffs and what they will do to our economy and the inflation rate, I would suggest that you read The Art of the Deal. I use the threat of tariffs that the President suggested placing on Canada and Mexico as an example. None were applied, yet the President succeeded in having both countries shut down our northern and southern borders. Also, as a fringe benefit, both countries placed 10,000 troops on each border to stop the fentanyl and human trafficking that has been rampant for the last four years. I will leave you this month with the words of Giacinto Dragonetti, Italian jurist and writer (1738-1818): “The science of the politician consists in fixing the true point of happiness and freedom. Those men deserve the gratitude of ages who should discover a mode of government that contained the greatest sum of individual happiness with the least national expense.” Let us all take these words to heart as we move forward through the next several months and years. There is a lot to be done, and there will be some pain in creating a landscape in this great Republic in which we will have “the greatest sum of individual happiness with the least national expense”! If you are there, get off the couch and engage in the local, state, and national battles ahead. I would truly consider it an honor to work side by side with you as we move forward. Thank you all for being a part of the movement. I wish you all a safe and blessed week. January 2025 President's Message - "Staying Faithful to Truth in Divisive Times"
ShieldofTruthNetworkIt is important, as we start the new year with all the enthusiasm and energy that we have for 2025, that we also recognize we mustn’t gloat or in any way divide our nation any more than it has already been divided. To that end, I will emphasize that there is a reason the word “Truth” is prominent in the name of our organization. When the seed was planted to start this wonderful organization, one of the overarching goals we had was to present only truthful information to the best of our collective abilities. We formed, at that time, a group of volunteers who were charged with seeking to confirm that anything we were going to send out to our membership was true and accurate. As a result, we found that we could not and would not send out information about many of the topics of current interest that were prevalent in the media and social media at the time that could not be verified. Today, STN continues to be diligent in this effort in order to avoid the potential of spreading falsehoods, half-truths, or any type of misinformation or disinformation, as such unconfirmed information is referred to by many. Unfortunately, I see that some, on both sides of many issues, continue to do this with information that is not validated. This was recently evidenced to me once again through some of the editorials I have read. These editorial articles were not only seen in local media but have also been seen across the Commonwealth and across the nation. I do read a lot, and I am careful not to respond to much of the rhetoric, labeling, and name-calling that has been flung at us over the years. However, recently the level of rhetoric appears to have ramped up, and the regurgitation of falsehoods and half-truths appears to be as common today as it was during our COVID experience. One example, which from a propaganda perspective was pretty easy to sniff out, was a comment I read regarding a statement made by President-elect Trump. The accusation was about him commenting that “In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed good.” This snippet of a much longer dialogue was quoted without any context for the statement. Perhaps if a clearer understanding of the context of the statement and a more accurate depiction of the entire dialogue were given, the reader would have more clearly understood what was meant by his statement. I certainly can admit that dialogue, in general, from the President-elect is not always completely easy to follow, but in this case, I think that with perspective, the statement makes more sense. You see, the former President was speaking at “The Believers Summit,” an event hosted by Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point Action. The event was a gathering of faith-based evangelical Christian attendees. The points the President-elect was attempting to make were that a significant percentage of Christians do not vote. He wanted to motivate Christians to go out and vote in 2024 and to get their friends and relatives to do the same. He then noted that he would have the concerns that many have with our government, and our society cleaned up, and things righted in the country. His follow-up statement was that then they could all go back to what they had been doing previously, not voting. Here is his exact quote, according to PolitiFact: “We have to win this election, the most important election ever. We want a landslide that’s too big to rig. If you want to save America, get your friends, get your family, get everyone you know, and vote. Vote early, vote absentee, vote on Election Day. I don’t care how, but you have to get out and vote. And again, Christians, get out and vote just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians.” I agree that it was a challenging way for him to say what he did. However, to mischaracterize, as was done initially with this misquote by Adam Schiff, is far from being truthful. His insinuation was that once the President was inaugurated, he would become a dictator, and there would be no more elections. Obviously, if you read the entire quote in context, you realize that was not what he was saying. As we know, the “evil one” takes a small truth and wraps it in a big lie. Misrepresentation is certainly an underhanded method of swaying people, but unfortunately, many people do not search for the truth and allow themselves to be manipulated by such misrepresentations. Another misconception that I have seen recently is a misrepresentation of what we are taught as faith-based Christians. This misrepresentation is that we are supposed to love everyone and take them into our confidence. I think we can all agree that our job as Christians is, in fact, to love our brothers and sisters. However, recently I saw a reference made to Matthew 5:44 in an opinion piece. The one biblical quote that was used in the article was that we as Christians should “love your enemies.” Once again, this was a snippet of biblical teaching being used to make a secular point. The point was that we should love the individual and overlook the actions of the individual. I certainly agree that we must love one another. As I just said, as Christians, we are taught to love the person. However, the difficult distinction for some to understand, who have not spent the time in the Word, is what Jesus actually demonstrated so perfectly. He showed us that we are to be salt and light to those living in the dark. We are called to demonstrate to the individual where the sin lies and support them in never doing it again. This is where the chasm exists in the point this person was making. I would refer us all, but particularly those who manipulate the Word, to review John 8:1–11, in which Jesus intercedes in an amazing way to neutralize the trap being set for Him by the Pharisees. In this example, Jesus is called to decide if a woman caught in the act of adultery is to be stoned as was dictated by the law at the time. His statement to the onlookers was: “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone.” With that, the crowd cleared, and Jesus stood her up and said to her: “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said: “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said: “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on, sin no more.” The piece that is missed by many who quote a piece of a passage, as was done here with the passage (Matthew 5:44) referenced in this editorial, is a partial truth. You see, this misrepresentation leads the uninformed reader to believe that we are called to love not only the person, which we should, but also to overlook the sin or act. In this way, you are led to miss Jesus’ point in this parable. You see, Jesus loved the woman, but not the act, and by saying that He did not condemn her, He was emphasizing His nonjudgmental love for the person. However, when He told her, “from now on sin no more,” He was saying that He despised the sin, and therefore He would not condemn her for it and expected that she would no longer partake of that sin. My point to you with this long dialogue is to clarify what amounted to a handful of words intended to give a partial truth. You see, we must all be on guard for such manipulative techniques. Our job is not to be drawn into an embroiled argument with an individual espousing such a manipulative dialogue. This will only waste your valuable time and energy. No, speak the truth to such individuals or, better yet, demonstrate through your actions the Truth and the Light that we are called to exemplify and to spread to others. I can honestly say that I love you all, and I love the individuals who perpetrate such falsehoods. However, I despise the act. I ask you all to keep your antennae up and avoid unnecessary confrontation with individuals speaking such slanted and manipulative rhetoric. We have too much to do this year. I only ask that you use your time, talents, and energy to positively affect others through our joint efforts this year. Thank you all! Have a Blessed and Safe New Year. December 2024 President's Message - Reflecting on 2024: Wins, Challenges, and the Road Ahead
ShieldofTruthNetworkWe have ended a year that has been filled with many wins and some challenges for STN. We just had the opportunity at our November monthly meeting to celebrate some of those accomplishments and those wins. In working with not only the leadership and members of STN, but also those that I have with other organizations’ leadership, those in the political world, as well as business and pastoral leaders that I have had the opportunity to interact with this last year, I always keep in mind the words of a great American philosopher, John Locke, when he said: “I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts.” The proverbial actions speak louder than words. STN has been truly blessed with individuals who not only demonstrate in their words where they stand and what they appear willing to do but also through their actions as well. One of our leaders who exemplifies this trait was honored at our annual meeting this past month with STN’s Distinguished Service Award. This year, that award went to STN’s State Legislative Chairman and Treasurer of STN, Scott Emmert. Yes, we have a lot to celebrate. Particularly the seismic shift that just occurred during our 2024 election cycle, a new administration, a new perspective for our Republic, and a new awakening, if you will. We also have to celebrate the true meaning of this wonderful Christmas season: the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We, as STN members and professors of the truth, need to continue spreading the salt and light. But what does that mean? In the simplest terms, it means educating others. That is why STN’s third core value is education. You see, education is necessary in order to support our other two core values: our Biblical Foundation and our Constitutional Framework. Education is the key to successfully being salt and light to others living in darkness, or perhaps a better phrase would be living in ignorance. So yes, we have a lot to celebrate, but please remember, the fight is just beginning. We mustn’t become complacent in thinking that all is well. We have accomplished a lot, that is true, but now is the time for us to hone our skills and dig in for what is to come. The name-calling and labeling will be in full swing. That may be all that the opposition has to use. As we all know, evil uses a small truth and builds lies around it. So be ready for that technique. It is our mission to spread the truth and correct the mistruths. Our mission is expanding as well. We need to educate those in darkness about the children caught in the snare of sex trafficking—the 500,000 undocumented children who are now unaccounted for after crossing our southern border illegally. So, STN’s Human/Sex Trafficking Committee must emerge this year. If you have an interest in this topic, please pray for guidance in your involvement in this committee. We also plan to inform the community through our School Board Committee about the actions and events occurring in the school district. Once again, if you are concerned about our educational system, I would ask that you pray for guidance regarding your involvement in this important committee as well. Let’s all celebrate and enjoy. Let’s gather together and have a joyful celebration. Refresh and rejuvenate this month, but get ready to engage in the events and battles ahead. We must work toward exposing the truth. We must engage others to passionately work toward resolving and ultimately using these truths and the opportunities that we have to educate others and spread the light. Thank you all for being a part of the team of light-spreaders, using your knowledge and information to educate and inform others. Have a Blessed Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year! November 2024 Presidents Message - "So Where Do We Go From Here?"
ShieldofTruthNetworkI think that it is fair to say that many of us are feeling pretty elated at the outcome of all the hard work put into this election. I have to once again commend our State Legislative Committee for all that they did, not only to clean up the voter rolls but also to get out the vote. I was laughing almost hysterically when I pulled up to the firehouse where we voted at 7 a.m. and saw that there were literally no parking spaces in their large parking lot. As with many of you, it took me an hour and a half to get in and out of the building. Now I think it is also important to acknowledge that there are many folks right now who are agonizing over the outcome of the election. We need to be sensitive to that fact and not gloat or overly emphasize our joy in the outcome. We all need to be humble and respectful. This election will unfortunately divide families and friends if social situations are not handled with grace, particularly over the holidays. We must take this opportunity to do what I have recommended and perhaps preached to many over the last several years. That is to do what we stand for in STN’s third core value: education. We must educate those in the dark with the truth. Now remember that our first core value is our Biblical foundation. Therefore, as Jesus did, we teach truth in a palatable way. Christ used stories to teach in many settings. But He always used the truth. Look at how He defused the situation of stoning a young woman by stating that anyone who is without sin should cast the first stone. That certainly put everything in perspective, didn’t it? Remember what we are told in Titus 2:8 and 2:15: “Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us. You must teach things and encourage the believers to do them. You have the authority to correct them when necessary, so don’t let anyone disregard what you say.” As long as your intentions are pure and you use facts and truth with grace, you will succeed. I will use a recent example of this that I experienced in my office. I had a patient who came in at the end of the morning—a man who I know is versed in the Word. He entered the treatment room, sat down on the table, and began yelling at me, stating that I am “stupid,” that I “need to be saved,” and that I “need to get on my knees and beg for forgiveness” for what I have done. He went on to say that I am “misleading others.” He then went on to holler at me that the man I supported for President had stated that “Liz Cheney should be placed before a firing squad.” Up to that point, I did not interrupt the man. I just let him “vent.” However, when he stated a falsehood, it was my job to correct him. So, in a civil tone, I corrected him with the facts of the statement that he had parroted, possibly from a news report that also mischaracterized the statement. I knew that at that point it was my obligation to speak the truth. He then went on to yell at me that he needed to speak to me about all of this. My response to him was that I would be willing to do that when he calmed down and could speak to me in a civil tone. He then went on with his finger pointed at me to state, “And you are not going to charge me for today’s visit!” My response was, “(his name), why would I not charge you for your visit?” To that, I received no response. I instructed him to lie down, and I treated him. He got up, speaking in a more civil tone to me, went to the front desk, paid for his visit, and scheduled his next appointment. My staff was probably more surprised and shaken by the situation than I was since they could hear this man yelling all the way out at the front desk. My point here is this: we must walk the path before us with grace, peace, and strength. The truth always prevails. This election is an example of that. I know that God has His hand in so many of the things that we are witnessing today. There is no doubt that He had His hand in this election. He has His hand in everything that STN stands for and everything that we are doing. We must stand together and stand strong. The real work is just beginning, and we will see the assaults coming like never before. Those who remain staunch in opposition to what is going to occur in the next year and beyond will place every roadblock in the path that we are forging together. They will attempt to create chaos. God wants order and detests chaos. Therefore, we must not waver, we must not falter, and we must always remember to use the truth as our shield with which to educate others. The truth cannot be refuted. We will see more of the truth being exposed in the coming months and years as well. Get ready for the ride; it is going to be quite a rollercoaster. But we cannot take our foot off the accelerator. If you haven’t engaged and have let others do the work, it is time to get off the sidelines and get on the field. Take part in the “revolution.” We are going to see a lot of disruption. We elected a disruptor, and he has appointed disruptors. This will be both an exciting and turbulent time. The bottom line is we need your help. I say this every month in our monthly meetings and in all of my correspondence, but I can’t overemphasize this fact. Without the support of those in our organization, we will not be able to accomplish the tasks ahead of us. We have another election coming up next year that will be contentious. We have individuals today that are being used in sex and human trafficking who need our help. We have events that STN will engage in to support others, whether that is the homeless or the unborn. However, we can’t do this without volunteers to help. I ask you all to consider volunteering and donating your time, your talents, and your financial support for the missions and causes that STN will engage in over the coming months and years. We need you, and the community, the Commonwealth, and yes, our Republic need us. Thank you, and I hope to see you all as we celebrate and give thanks in our upcoming November Annual Meeting. - Dr Doug Pfeiffer12 views -
October 2024 President's Message - "Lessons in Accountability from Everyday Life"
ShieldofTruthNetworkRecently, I have been thinking about the following question: If I were to try to identify the one common thread that overrides all others in how we live our lives in a Godly way, what would that be? Once I came up with the answer, I realized how that quality impacts everything else in our daily lives and our interactions with others. If you will allow me, I would like to use a couple of examples to depict this element that, in my opinion, is lacking in our current collective culture, not only in the United States but elsewhere around the world today. Here are the examples I have for you to consider as you determine if you can discern for yourself the common element in these examples. I recently noticed a significant dent in the rear quarter panel of my vehicle. It wasn’t there the day before—it just magically appeared out of nowhere. How could this have happened, I asked myself? So, I began to review my activities from the day before. I hadn’t recalled any mishaps that could have caused the damage. However, I had been doing a lot of running around and parked in numerous different parking lots. Aha! Perhaps someone had backed into my vehicle and caused the damage. But why wouldn’t they leave me their contact information or wait until I came out of the store to inform me so that we could exchange information and get it taken care of? Or did they just not realize they had caused the damage and left without any recollection of hitting my vehicle? Well, that $780 repair bill had to come out of my pocket. Another example is when I was driving the same vehicle and made a legal left turn on a green arrow light. As I was in the turn, another vehicle across the street turned right at a red light. I saw the car turning in my peripheral vision since I was already well into the turn. I tried to veer left, but there was an oncoming car in the opposite lane, so I couldn’t move too far out of the way. Once again, my vehicle was struck. We both pulled over and cordially exchanged information. Everything on her insurance card was in order, and since the damage didn’t seem too great, we decided not to call the police. I would merely inform my insurance company, give them her info, and get my car fixed—or so I thought. I did inform my insurance company of the accident, got the estimate for the repair as instructed, and scheduled the vehicle for the repair. I had the repair completed and paid my deductible. Shortly afterward, I received a call from the other driver’s insurance company stating that her insurance policy had been canceled just prior to the accident and that they were not responsible for the repairs. She was driving without insurance. My insurance carrier stated that they would be in contact with the other driver in an attempt to have her pay personally for the repair. After waiting one year for reimbursement, my carrier informed me in writing that they were unsuccessful in getting reimbursement from her and were closing the file. I hope you can see the common thread between these two examples of the key element that was missing in the scenarios I have outlined for you here. Yes, those of you who discerned that the missing element was “personal responsibility” are correct. These two individuals did not take the right path and admit that they had done something that negatively impacted another person’s life. Now, if you would allow me, I would like to explore why this happens. The overarching reason is that they do not understand the biblical reasons why they should take responsibility for their actions. There are consequences for every interaction we engage in daily. Those consequences always impact not only the individual upon whom the act is performed but, perhaps even more importantly, the perpetrator of the act. The gnawing mental anguish that will last until the perpetrator makes amends for their actions can be life-altering in many ways. But even more importantly, that mark remains to be answered for in eternity. Our interactions with those around us, whether believers or not, will impact not only their lives but ours—not only in this life but, even more importantly, after this life is over. The true answer to correcting the missing element of personal responsibility is to open our Bibles and read. This is where the answers regarding the consequences of our daily actions and activities are found. Beyond that, it comes down to parents teaching these principles to their children and others. While I was disappointed in the actions of others in these two examples that I use here to depict this flaw, I am not mad at them nor do I hold any disdain for the perpetrators of these incidents. No, rather I feel sorry for them. I hope and pray that they have learned from the incidents. Who knows? Our paths may cross again, in which case they may be able to make restitution for their actions by merely admitting their personal responsibility. Or perhaps, through this experience, they may learn and not make the same mistake again. It is not my duty to figure all that out. That task is well beyond my pay grade. But I know that He has it all under control, and that there were lessons to be taught and, hopefully, learned by both me and these other individuals that will aid us both later in life. September 2024 President’s Message - Echoes of Magdeburg: Standing Firm in Troubled Times
ShieldofTruthNetworkA couple of years ago, we were fortunate to have Pastor Matthew Trewhella speak at one of our monthly meetings. Prior to that meeting, I was given a copy of Matthew’s book, The Doctrine of Lesser Magistrates, by an STN member at another monthly meeting. I carefully read and highlighted that book, digesting each insightful word. Following that, I purchased a copy of the document that inspired the book. The document was later translated and published as The Magdeburg Confession. I have to admit that the translated version takes time to digest and assimilate. And yes, as always, I highlighted and reread sections to ensure I had a full grasp of the meaning and intent of the authors. To review briefly for those unfamiliar with either of these wonderful books, The Magdeburg Confession was written in 1550 in response to the Augsburg Interim, which was an attempt by King Charles V to block the Protestant Reformation. While the entire country of then-Protestant Germany decided to conform, one lone city decided to stand against the King and resist. That city was Magdeburg. Therefore, in 1550, the pastors of Magdeburg issued the “Confession and Defense of the Pastors and Other Ministers of the Church of Magdeburg.” Five months later, King Charles V sent his troops to enforce his edict. The people of Magdeburg, in a cohesive and unified fashion, burned everything outside the city gates and walled off the city. And so, the siege of Magdeburg began. A novel revelation was exposed for the first time in this document: that “lesser Magistrates” have an obligation to those they represent to stand up to tyrannical edicts, which we are so often challenged to live under. These doctrines often run counter to biblical teachings and, therefore, are not morally congruent with our philosophy. I would like to quote one section of the translation of The Magdeburg Confession for you. Please take a moment to contemplate this statement relative to the edicts and doctrines we have recently seen coming forth from magistrates in our own federal government, as well as from other world leaders. Understand that I am not suggesting the specifics of this particular quote are what we are currently dealing with; rather, it is the concept of upper-level edicts and directives that we may disagree with but are forced to comply with. Add to this the fact that many of our “lesser magistrates” should be interceding in an effort to protect us from such edicts but simply are not. I was inspired to write this President’s Message after reading a statement from the Superintendent of the Quakertown School District, which was published in the local newspaper. My quote is directly from the article in the newspaper. As noted in the article, he stated that in his outline of the future education of students and the incorporation of AI teachings, “The student would share this vision with the greater community and focus on”—and this is what caught my eye—“global citizenship.” I have my own interpretation of the meaning of that statement, and I will allow you to formulate your own. However, the quote I would like to share with you from The Magdeburg Confession is as follows: “Therefore, if now the leader or Caesar proceeds to such a height of insanity only in that order of natural knowledge which governs the society of civil life and uprightness, that he abolishes the law concerning marriages and all chastity, and himself sets up a contrary law of roving unclean lusts, to the effect that the wives and daughters of all men are to be prostituted; and if he himself defends and prosecutes this law with force and arms, so that certain death is laid down as the penalty for those who resist or fail to conform – in such a case, doubtless, no clear-thinking person would have any hesitation about divine right and commandment that such a leader or monarch ought to be curbed by everyone in his most wicked attempt, even by the lowest of the lesser magistrates with whatever power they have.” As you can see, the authors of the Confession knew, as we do, that some of the edicts and laws sent down by upper-level magistrates must be stopped or at least fought by the lesser—and even lowest of the lesser—magistrates. This month, we will be hosting some of these “lesser magistrates” at our “Meet the Candidates Night” during our September monthly meeting. These individuals are sacrificing a lot to represent us in Harrisburg and Washington. We are giving you an opportunity not only to hear their thoughts but to share yours as well. We hope you will come out and challenge them with your well-thought-out and respectfully insightful questions. I hope you will do this not only to demonstrate to them that you expect the same oversight that was exposed for the first time in Magdeburg, Germany, but to let them know that you will be watching them to Ensure that the power and confidence you instill in them by supporting and voting for them is justified.7 views -
STN August 2024 President's Message - "The Narrow Path"
ShieldofTruthNetworkAs I look at the journey that we have been on and the path ahead, I realize that, just as we have been told, we are on the narrow one. However, this is not necessarily the road less traveled. No, there are more on this path than many of us realize. You see, although we may at times seem to be alone, there are many who are like-minded on the path with us. Unfortunately, they also feel alone and are often unwilling to speak about how they are feeling. It is our job to stand up, and as we are told, spread the salt and light. This spreading of the salt and light may take the form of standing up at a school board meeting and shedding some truth about what you see happening in our schools. It may mean talking to your neighbor, friend, or family member about what is going on with a piece of legislation, or with our election process. This is all part of our third core value, which is education. As we note on all of our correspondence, which was first penned by Thomas Jefferson: “In order to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed.” When you speak out, it is also important to remember that we are told to be respectful, never stooping to the level of the opposing side's tactics. Tactics which we see all too often include yelling, name-calling, and labeling. We are called to speak the truth, using facts that are irrefutable. For example, in my lifelong study of the field of biology, genetics, human physiology, and anatomy, I can state emphatically that boys do not menstruate. Genetically, the gender of an animal, including us as human beings, is encoded in the DNA of that individual. Furthermore, it is contained in the unique DNA code of every cell in his or her body. To think that an individual’s gender can be manipulated by altering the anatomy or adjusting the hormone levels of that individual is fallacious at best. Also, the thought that the genetic gender code encoded in every cell in the body could change the gender of an individual is nonsense, particularly since these cells die and are replaced on a daily basis. Once again, this is untenable. Therefore, the educational process I noted above must be performed in a non-aggressive “spoon-feeding” manner. For example, when I was asked if I was going to have the “shot” during the COVID hysteria, I responded to the question with a question. My question back was, “Do you know what mRNA is?” To a person, the response was a resounding “NO.” I would take a piece of paper and draw a cell and explain as I diagrammed out what mRNA was and how it worked in every cell in the body. I would then show what occurred when this synthetic foreign mRNA was injected into the body and when it entered the cell and took over the process of your own mRNA. After the “class,” every one of the people that I explained and diagrammed the process to said that they didn’t know that was what would happen. I was able to change their perspective. In so doing, they began to think more critically about the perspective of putting this foreign, synthetic mRNA into their body. This is a small example of how we can load that narrow path with many more than those of us currently on that road. But we must have no fear. We must recognize that it is our joyful obligation. And we are called to duty to act each and every time the opportunity arises to help others to see the light. But time is short, so we must remember this technique can be incorporated in discussing the devastating results of doing nothing when we speak to those who are on the fence or share your beliefs but are afraid to act. Instead, they may feel more comfortable sitting on the couch and watching the latest reality show about how horrible someone else’s life is, which makes them feel like their life isn’t so bad after all. No, it is our responsibility to help them get off the couch, engage, and get in the fight. We are truly at a crossroads. If we allow the opposition to win this election, we will be wondering where in this demonically chaotic world we can move to in order to “get away from it all.” Yes, I am already having people come to me and tell me that if we don’t win this election, they are going to move away. Once again, I respond with a question. I simply ask them, “Where to?” There is nowhere as free and in which you will find the abundance that we now have. There is nowhere to run to. We must stand our ground and fight. The fight is now! The fight is here! The fight is for each and every one of us to take a part in! The question is, what is your part? Join in! Engage in some way. Become a poll watcher. God knows we need them. Join our State Legislative Committee, door-knocking or cleaning up the voter rolls. Attend a school board meeting and voice your opinion, or just clap for those who do that you agree with. Join our Second Amendment Committee and help thwart the assaults against your right to keep and bear arms. Support our Prayer Team. We absolutely need prayer for our nation, our Commonwealth, and certainly for STN and our leadership team. I thank you all for being a part of the STN Team fighting for solutions, making sense of what we see, and standing up for the truth. Spread the salt and light to those in darkness. Thank you, one and all! Dr. Pfeiffer31 views
