Kirk Douglas (Issur Danielovitch, 1916–2020) was an iconic American actor, producer, and director of Hollywood's Golden Age, famous for his intense, dynamic portrayals of strong and often morally ambiguous characters, such as those in the films "Champion", "Lust for Life", and "Spartacus". Born into poverty to Russian-Jewish immigrant parents, he overcame hardship through sheer determination to earn an education, and his career spanned over six decades. Beyond acting, Douglas made his mark as a producer, founding his own company and playing a key role in breaking the Hollywood blacklist by publicly crediting screenwriter Dalton Trumbo in Spartacus. He was honored with an Academy Honorary Award for his lifetime contributions to cinema.
