War Cry
MornaMacAedynThe Battle of the Hundred-in-the-Hands On December 21st, 1866, in the bitter snows of the Wyoming Territory, Red Cloud of the Oglala Lakota led a decisive strike against encroaching U.S. forces. Known to the Lakota as the Battle of the Hundred-in-the-Hands, the victory remains one of the most powerful examples of Native resistance, tactical, spiritual, and deeply rooted in the defense of their sacred homeland. “Our song is not a political statement. It does not defend either side. It is a historical story set to song. We respect warriors of all cultures and times. War Cry tells the story of Red Cloud and the Lakota’s stand to defend their homeland, their people, and their survival. Nothing more, nothing less.” — Morna War Cry is a hard-driving outlaw ballad rooted in deep respect. We honor the warriors of the Oglala Lakota past and present, and their enduring spirit. The song was written by Aponi Black Elk and Nina Wells, and brought to life by the voices and instruments of our all-female band. This is not a cry of hate or sorrow. It is a song of survival, memory, and the unbreakable human spirit. 🎞️ The video includes historical imagery and public domain art by master artists such as Charles Marion Russell, Frederic Remington, and Charles Schreyvogel, alongside vintage photographs and recreated archival scenes that reflect the gravity and spirit of the event. Dodge City
MornaMacAedyn‘Dodge City’ – A tribute to the dying cowboy’s last song. Our song Dodge City is inspired by the classic ballad Streets of Laredo, made famous by Marty Robbins. Our version tells the story of a gunfighter’s final moments outside the Long Branch Saloon, shot for cheating at cards, with only his voice left to explain how it ended. Set in the dust and grit of Dodge City, this is our version of a historic American lament, told plainly, without heroics but full of heart. Co-written by Morna and Nina, this country ballad blends bluegrass soul and outlaw grit to tell the story of one final shootout on Front Street, where not every man walks away. Our music video features beautifully restored footage from the 1917 silent western Straight Shooting, directed by John Ford and starring Harry Carey. We use over three minutes of the climactic shootout, carefully edited to align with the tempo and story arc of our song. Bookending the scene are rare, restored photographs of Dodge City in the 1870s, giving life to the dust, danger, and legends of the Old West. As always, our music is free to listen and enjoy. If it stirs something in you, welcome to our campfire and sing a ballad with us! #dodgecity #westernmusic #frontierballad #johnford #harrycarey #americanwest #folkmusic #bluegrassmusic #mornarowanmacaedyn #mornamacaedyn #outlawcountry #musicforfilm #licensingavailable #banjomusic #countrymusic #martyrobbins — • Silent Film Footage (1917) Sourced from: Straight Shooting (Public Domain) Directed by: John Ford Starring: Harry Carey Preserved & accessed via public domain archives Watch the full movie here: • Straight Shooting (1917) John Ford Harry C... — Performed by: Morna Rowan MacAedyn Band Members: Morna Rowan MacAedyn Aponi Black Elk Ryn Nguyen Nina Wells Kai Huang Song Written by: Morna Rowan MacAedyn & Nina Wells Video Edited by: Nina Wells © 2025 Morna Rowan MacAedyn. He Found Me There
MornaMacAedynHe Found Me There (Our Song of Wandering, Redemption, and Calling, In the Footsteps of Moses) Originally written for our church, our song carries the voice of one who thought they were lost forever… but was found. Like Moses, called not in strength but in exile, we all have moments when we question our worth, and yet, still, He calls. We pray this song encourages those walking through their own darkness. You are not alone, you are not forgotten. We wrote, “He Found Me There” as a heartfelt and uplifting journey of redemption, recorded with love, from all of us to all of you! Our video includes clips and scenes from Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments (1923) and The King of Kings (1927). 🎞️ Video includes public domain imagery from silent Christian epics, ending with a vision of healing through Christ.
