Week 8 Tutorial: The 40-Year Wilderness Wanderings (Numbers 15–36)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 8 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge have us finishing up the Book of Numbers as we witness the Israelites wander in the wilderness for over 38 years. Following a brief discussion with Ebony, one of our challenge participants, today's tutorial begins with Chad outlining a big-picture overview of the Book of Numbers, followed by some key characters and their corresponding stories which take place in the Wilderness and Moab, including: - Joshua and Caleb (Num. 13–14) - Aaron, and his sons (Num. 15–19) - Jesus Christ (Num. 20–21) - the Sorcerer, the Successors, the Sisters, the Shrinkers, and the Splitters (Num. 22–36) Chad's suggested approach to this week's readings includes the following four sittings: - Numbers 15–19: more rebellion from the Exodus Generation - Numbers 20–24: the Next Generation Israelites are blessed by Balaam - Numbers 25–30: time spent on the plains of Moab - Numbers 31–36: two-and-a-half tribes to remain https://www.chadmansbridge.com Participation in this Challenge is free and open to all! 1. Week 3 Tutorial: The Founding Fathers of God's Covenant Community (Genesis 21–41)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 3 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge see us smashing out Genesis 21–41. In this tutorial, Chad encourages us to see the Four Generations of Patriarchs—Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and 'the boys'—as the driving narrative point of these 21 Chapters as we build towards the story of how Joseph, and his brothers, came to be in Egypt. Chad's suggested reading plan for this week includes breaking these chapters into four sittings, focussing your attention on the stories of: - Isaac and Rebekah (Gen. 21–25); - Jacob and Leah (Gen. 26–30); - Jacob and Esau (Gen. 31–36); - Joseph and his brothers (Gen. 37–41) Remember to keep your eyes out for recurring motifs in these beloved origin stories, as we continue to appreciate the Book of Genesis as an Ancient Book, of Ancient (Covenant) History), Revealing Prophetic Patterns and Themes. https://www.chadmansbridge.com Participation in this Challenge is free and open to all! 1. Week 4 Tutorial: In and Out of Egypt | Joseph and Moses (Genesis 42–50; Exodus 1-14)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 4 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge see us finishing off the Book of Genesis and heading into the Exodus narrative. Whereas Joseph led Israel's family into Egypt, now, more than 400 years later, Moses and Aaron are leading them out! In this video we welcome special guest and reading plan participant, Jaye, who shares some of her highlights and insights from last week's readings in the Joseph narrative. Then, in this tutorial, Chad encourages us to approach this week's readings in four sittings, paying special attention to: - Joseph and His Brothers (Gen. 42–45) As one of the great "But God!" Stories of all time, watch how Joseph's conduct toward his betraying brothers foreshadows the life and ministry of Jesus Christ! - Father Israel (Gen. 46–50) See how Jacob 'adopts' Joseph's two sons as his own, effectively effectuating the 'double portion blessing' of the firstborn son and, in so doing, establishes the 13 Tribes of Israel with prophetic blessings and predictions for each. - Moses' Origin Story (Exo. 1–6) - The 10 Plagues and Crossing of the Red Sea (Exo. 7–14) As we head into the Book of Exodus, pay attention to the numerous themes and motifs, established in Genesis, which are now revisited here, as God 'makes a distinction' between His covenant-people and those not in relationship with Him. Week 5 Tutorial: It's a New Day for Israel! (Exodus 15-40)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 5 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge have us journeying with the Israelites from the Celebratory Song of Miriam and Moses after their Red Sea Crossing, to the Cutting of their New Covenant with Yawheh at Sinai, and, finally, approximately 12 months since they left Egypt, to the Construction of the Tabernacle. In this tutorial, Chad encourages us to see the Book of Exodus as an epic tale that declares one main message: 'It's a New Day for Israel!' Pay special attention, in these chapters, to: a New Song (the Song of Moses in Exodus 15), a New System (particularly the cutting of a new covenant in Exodus 24), and a New Sanctuary where worship will take place and God's glory be manifest with His people. Chad's suggested approach to this week's readings includes the following five sittings: - Israel's Journey from the Red Sea to Mt Sinai (Exo. 15–18) - Israel's New Constitution and Covenant with God (Exo. 19–24) - The Instructions for Building the Tabernacle (Exo. 25–31) - The Repercussions of Covenant Unfaithfulness (Exo. 32–34) - The Construction of the Tabernacle/Sanctuary (Exo. 35–40) Watch Chad's Sermon from 2024, '7 Ways to Pray—Through the Tabernacle of Moses', which contains a brief video animation and explanation of the Tabernacle Layout and Furnishings, here: https://rumble.com/v5jviuq-7-ways-to-praythrough-the-tabernacle-of-moses.html https://www.chadmansbridge.com Participation in this Challenge is free and open to all! 1. Week 6 Tutorial: A Big Bloody Book of Ritual and Rules (Leviticus 1—22)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 6 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge have us opening up the third book of the Torah, Leviticus. In many ways, Leviticus serves as the 'instruction manual' for worship in the newly-constructed tabernacle, given to the Israelites, and in particular, the Levitical Priests, through Moses at Mt Sinai. While admitting Leviticus is a notoriously difficult book to read, in this tutorial Chad Mansbridge encourages us to lean in to our readings this week as we endeavour to 'discover Him' in this Book. Firstly, to discover the 'Historical Intended Meaning' (H.I.M.) of the text—essentially an instruction manual for the Levites on how worship in Ancient Israel was to be performed in the Tabernacle—and then, secondly, to discover and seek to see Him: to see Jesus in the types and shadows of the (no longer practiced) Levitical system. While Leviticus may not be written to you, it most certainly is written for you; there are truths within this 'big bloody book' which can bless and benefit you, so long as you handle it properly. Chad's suggested approach to this week's readings includes the following five sittings: - Israelite Offerings (Lev. 1–7) - Ordination of the Priests (Lev. 8–10) - Various Purification Rites (Lev. 11–15) - The Day of Atonement and Holy Living (Lev. 16–19) - Punishments for Sin and Prescriptions for Priests (Lev. 20–22) https://www.chadmansbridge.com Participation in this Challenge is free and open to all! 1. Week 7 Tutorial: Israel are on the Move! Well... almost (Leviticus 23–27; Numbers 1–14; Psalm 90)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 7 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge have us finishing up Leviticus and heading into the Book of Numbers. Chad begins this tutorial by encouraging us to take a step back and remind ourselves of 'the Bible-Story thus far' as narrated in the first 3 Books of our Bible—Genesis, Exodus and Leviticus. He then encourages us to pay attention to the following in this week's readings: - a Calendar for Public Worship: noting the 7 Annual Festivals of Israel as laid out in Leviticus 23. - the Consequences of Covenant Disloyalty: noting the blessings and curses outlined in Leviticus 26 and manifested in Numbers 10–14. - a Counting for Conscription, Camping and Care of the Tabernacle: as witnessed in the opening chapters of Numbers where we see the Family of Levi, very clearly, distinguished from the other 12 Tribes of Israel. We complete this week's readings with Psalm 90, which, so it is said, was authored by Moses sometime during the wilderness wanderings as he reflected on the consequences of the people's actions in Numbers 12–14. Chad's suggested approach to this week's readings includes the following four sittings: 1. Leviticus 23–27: finishes up the Laws of Leviticus 2. Numbers 1–4: how to March, Camp, and Care for the Tabernacle 3. Numbers 5–9: various Instructions and Anointing of the Levites 4. Numbers 10–14; Psalm 90: the Journey towards Canaan begins! Then, stops. https://www.chadmansbridge.com Participation in this Challenge is free and open to all! 1. Download & Print the PDF Reading Schedule here: https://bit.ly/2025BiblePlanPDF 2. Week 2 Tutorial: With a little help from my "friends" (Job 21–42; Gen. 12–20)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 2 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge include Job 21—42 and Genesis 12—20. This week sees us finishing off the Book of Job. In this tutorial, Chad encourages us to appreciate both the nature of the Book, and it's structure. Much like Jesus' parables, the dramatisation of this story is intended to draw the listener in to the story, to reveal a great life-lesson at the end! Whether Job proves to be a genuine historical figure, or his entire story a work of fiction, there are key lessons to be learned from Job and his interactions with his so-called "friends"! We also continue into the Book of Genesis, as we are introduced to the life and times of Abram and Sarai, the 'Mother and Father' of God's newfound Covenant Family. In these chapters pay attention to the covenant God cuts with Abram and the developing motif of 'a remnant saved from destruction' in the story of his nephew Lot, and his escape from Sodom. Chad's suggestion on how to approach this week's readings? Walk through Job 21–31, then 32–42 in two sittings; and Genesis 12–20 in a single sitting. Keep reading, catch the flow of the story... then turn back later for more if something gets your curiosity going! https://www.chadmansbridge.com Participation in this Challenge is free and open to all! 1. Week 1 Tutorial: Let's start "in the beginning" (Gen. 1–11; Job 1–20)
cchadmansbridgeWeek 1 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge include Genesis 1—11 and Job 1—20. In this tutorial, Chad explains how the Book of Genesis is 'an Ancient Book of Ancient History Revealing Prophetic Patterns and Themes'. From a chronological perspective, these opening chapters demonstrate the link between Adam and Abram, in what the apostle Peter would later refer to as the 'Ancient World' (2 Pet. 2:5): or, as Chad likes to call it, the Age of the Ancients. We also hit into the Book of Job, a great work of Hebrew Poetry, whose story is set within a similar period of time, circa 2100BC. https://www.chadmansbridge.com Participation in this Challenge is free and open to all! 1.
