CHAZ/CHOP TRIAL — Antonio Mays v City of Seattle Rashyla Levitt, a leader of the former 2020 BLM-Antifa autonomous zone, testifies that she and other CHOP leaders met with City officials off-site during the deadly insurrection to discuss “designated casualty zones.” Levitt said these zones— intended for emergency personnel to treat injured protesters— were set up two-blocks outside of the CHAZ, and were created by former Mayor Jenny Durkan, former Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best, and Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins. The meeting was conducted a few days after the first homicide occurred in the zone. Levitt testified that she called 911 dispatch to report the shooting of Antonio Mays. I saw Democrats, Republicans, independents, who were protesting in the millions against a president who is trying to silence us. And the analogy was apt when the president uploaded a video of himself in a king hat —“ Smith: “So, Dan, are you going to answer the question?” KOH: “Yes, I will. But please give me a moment — literally defecating on people exercising their right to free speech.” Smith: “I don’t think it was literally.” KOH: “A constitutional — a constitutional right.” Smith: “OK.”

JANSING: “Joining us now, Democratic Congressman of Maryland, Jamie Raskin. It’s good to see you, Congressman. You spoke at the ‘No Kings’ Rally in Philadelphia. Does what you saw support the argument that this was a hate America rally?” RASKIN: “No, on the contrary. It was, of course, totally positive, totally patriotic, and totally supportive of us getting the American government back in business again, reopening and supporting the health care of the American people and supporting the federal workforce. And you know, I kicked off by saying that Speaker Johnson was talking about a ‘Hate America’ rally, but that one had already taken place on January 6th, 2021, when Trump incited a mob of insurrectionists who violently assaulted our police officers, wounding and injuring more than 140 of them in order to overturn a presidential election he lost by more than 7 million votes. That’s what a ‘Hate America’ rally looks like. This is what a ‘Love America’ movement looks like. And that’s why they’ve been trashing it for weeks now, because they know that millions of Americans are standing up against their authoritarianism.”

CUSASK: “The whole country was founded on kings.” reporter: “This is your city. What do you see happening to your city right now?” CUSACK: “Everyone knows the score, right? The authoritarians divide and conquer and they create and other, and then they pick on it and then pick on the person and harass them, jail them. And that’s all used as a distraction so they can steal as much as they can, maintain power. We all know history. So that’s what he’s doing. And we have masked goons roaming the streets, hiding their faces, abducting people.” reporter: “What is the most upsetting headline for you? When you see something in the news, does it hit you in your gut? Does it hit you in your heart?” CUSACK: “It’s all upsetting. Seeing sort of a fascist authoritarian, seeing that sort of cosplay that the right-wing has been fooling around for so long, seeing it kind of devolve into the real thing is — is predictable, but deeply saddening.” reporter: “You’re a storyteller. What is the story of Chicago?” CUSACK: “Go to hell.” reporter: “Is that the message from Chicago?” CUSASK: “Yes. What’s interesting is that he doesn’t understand that all the labor rights around the world came from this town, this place. So if he thinks this place is going to be a fascist hub, no chance.”
