Tales from the Cryptkeeper is an animated children's horror television series that first aired on September 18, 1993, on ABC in the United States and YTV in Canada. The show is a spin-off of the highly successful, but much more graphic, live-action HBO series Tales from the Crypt, and both were based on the 1950s EC Comics.
Host: The show is hosted by an animated version of the Cryptkeeper, a wisecracking corpse. John Kassir, who voiced the character in the live-action series, reprised his role.
Format: The series is an anthology, with each episode typically presenting one or more self-contained horror stories, often delivering a moral or lesson.
Other Characters: The other EC Comics mascots, the Vaultkeeper and the Old Witch, also appeared frequently, often bickering with the Cryptkeeper for control of the hosting duties.
Production: The series was produced by the Canada-based studio Nelvana.
