Kate Bush ) Never for Ever ) 1980 (Harvest Canada)
THE FABULOUS VINYL LIFEYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Never for Ever is the 3rd studio album by English singer-songwriter Kate Bush, released on 8 September 1980 by EMI Records in the UK, Harvest in Canada, and EMI America in the US (only in 1984 following the failure of her debut and the entry into the charts of her 4th album, The Dreaming.) It was recorded at Abbey Road studio and AIR studio in London (September 1979 – May 1980). Bush felt that this was the 1st album she was happy with, since it was more personal. The album cover is an illustration (in pencil) by artist Nick Price, who had also designed the cover for the programme for her 1979 tour. Never for Ever was Bush's first No. 1 album and was also the 1st album by a British female solo artist to top the UK Albums Chart, as well as being the 1st album by any female solo artist to enter the chart at No. 1. It has been certified Gold in the UK and Platinum in Canada. It features the UK Top 20 singles "Breathing", "Army Dreamers" and "Babooshka", the latter being one of Bush's biggest hits. Jean-Michel Jarre ) Les Chants Magnétiques ) 1981 (Disques Dreyfus France)
THE FABULOUS VINYL LIFEYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Les Chants Magnétiques (English title: Magnetic Fields) is the 5th studio album by French electronic musician and composer Jean-Michel Jarre, released on Disques Dreyfus on 20 May 1981. The album reached number 6 in the UK, number 98 in the US and number 76 in Australia. The title of the album is a play on words in the French language. The literal English translation of the French title, "Les Chants Magnétiques", is "Magnetic Songs". However, the French word for 'fields' (champs) is a homophone of the French word for 'songs' (chants), so in French, if the title is spoken out loud, it can be interpreted as either magnetic fields or as magnetic songs. (Les Champs magnétiques was a surrealist book published in 1920.) The English title, "Magnetic Fields", is a literal translation of "les champs magnétiques" rather than "les chants magnétiques", and the pun in the original French title is lost in translation. The album is one of the first to use sounds from the Fairlight CMI. Its digital technology allowed Jarre to continue his earlier sonic experimentation in new ways. He also used instruments from the EMS company, among them the Synthi AKS, the VCS 3 and the Vocoder 1000. 🔘 Face A: Part 1 🔘 Face B: Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 (La Dernière Rumba) (The Last Rumba)243 views 1 comment -
The Moody Blues ) Long Distance Voyager ) 1981 (Threshold UK)
THE FABULOUS VINYL LIFEYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Long Distance Voyager is the 10th album by the Moody Blues released in May 1981 on the group's Threshold record label. The album was recorded at the band's own Threshold Studios. It was the 1st album featuring keyboardist Patrick Moraz (who previously had worked with bands such as Refugee and Yes) in place of co-founder Mike Pinder, who left after the Octave album in 1978. Upon release in 1981, Long Distance Voyager became the Moody Blues' 2nd American number one album, and was also the source of the US Top 20 singles "Gemini Dream" (No. 12) and "The Voice" (No. 15) on the Billboard Hot 100. A 3rd single, "Talking Out of Turn", only reached No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 but reached No. 27 in Canada. It also continued the Moody Blues' winning streak in their native UK, reaching No. 7 there. Besides the singles, two songs from the album charted on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. "Meanwhile" charted at No. 11 and "22,000 Days" charted at No. 38. The cover for the album was based on a painting entitled Punch (1840) by Thomas Webster printed for the Art Union of Glasgow, while the sleeve was based on a concept by the Moody Blues which was designed by Cream, who were in charge of the album's cover artwork. NASA's Voyager spacecraft is at the top of the front side of the album cover. Both Voyager 1 and Voyager 2's flybys of Saturn were in the news in 1980–81. It's been certified Platinum in the US and 3x Platinum in Canada. Yes ) 90125 ) 1983
THE FABULOUS VINYL LIFEYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. 90125 is the 11th studio album by the English progressive rock band Yes, released on 7 November 1983 by Atco Records. After Yes disbanded in 1981, following the Drama (1980) tour, bassist Chris Squire, drummer Alan White and Trevor Rabin (guitarist, singer, songwriter) formed Cinema, and began recording an album with original Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye, who had been fired in 1971. They adopted a more commercial and pop-oriented musical direction as the result of their new material, much of which derived from Rabin's demos. During the mixing stage, former Yes singer Jon Anderson, who had left in 1980, accepted an invitation to return and record the co-lead vocals, and subsequently Cinema became the new lineup of Yes. Named for its Atco catalogue number, 90125 was released to a generally positive reception and introduced the band to a new generation of fans. It reached No. 5 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 16 on the UK Albums Chart, and remains their best selling album with several million copies sold in the US. Of the album's 4 singles, "Owner of a Lonely Heart" was the most successful and is their only song to top the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
