As the Summer Riots of 2020 kicked off, Tashella Sheri Amore Dickerson, the executive director of BLMOKC, had just $500 in her checking account. By that July, she had millions. She had embezzled donations and grants meant to pay bail for arrested BLM protesters and used it for personal shopping sprees, real estate purchases, and handouts to family and friends. This activity continued for years, until just a couple months ago. Now, a 25-count indictment against her for wire fraud and money laundering plus forfeiture has been unsealed. 135 exhibits were recently unsealed in the now-settled U.S. Virgin Islands case against JPMorgan Chase over the bank's relationships with Jeffrey Epstein. In December of 2022, the U.S. Virgin Islands and victims of Epstein and Maxwell brought a complaint against JPMorgan Chase Bank over the bank's relationship with Epstein. The complaint alleged that JP Morgan "knowingly facilitated, sustained, and concealed the human trafficking network operated by Jeffrey Epstein." 9 months later they reached a settlement for $75 million. Well, before reaching that settlement, a lot of exhibits were filed under seal in this case. Over 100 exhibits. And on Oct 30, 2025, thanks to motions filed by the NYT and WSJ, 135 of those exhibits were unsealed. Voting machine company Smartmatic (SGO Corp Ltd) made their initial appearance in federal criminal court on Oct 30, 2025. The company was recently added as a defendant in a criminal case that already included execs and the CEO as defendants, as well as the Filipino election official who officials at Smartmatic are alleged to have bribed and laundered money to in a corrupt effort to secure over $180 million in contracts for their machines. Smartmatic will be arraigned on charges of Conspiracy to Violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Conspiracy to Engage in Money Laundering, and Money Laundering on Nov 20, 2025. In United States v. Comey, the defense has filed a motion seeking disclosure of grand jury transcripts and audio recordings. Fed Rule 6(e)(3)(E)(ii) allows for the disclosure of grand jury materials when a defendant “establish[es] that particularized and factually based grounds exist to support the proposition that irregularities in the grand jury proceedings may create a basis for dismissal of the indictment.” The irregularities with this case are apparent and notable. Update on United States v. Comey: a new filing from the defense opposes the implementation of a filter team for Arctic Haze evidence seized years ago from Daniel Richman, who was counsel to Comey at the time and is now Person 3 from the indictment. Defense wants to first challenge the underlying search warrants used to get that evidence, which appears to be communications between Comey and Richman. To do that, they need prosecutors to turn over the four search warrants used. Defense’s filing gives us new insights into the Arctic Haze investigation and, in my opinion, foreshadows what this case is really about—sealed material and getting it unsealed. In November 2023, Changpeng Zhao and Binance pleaded guilty to money laundering and sanctions evasion, agreeing to pay $4.3 billion to settle a criminal case. Zhao had to step down as CEO of Binance and faced a time, potentially years, in prison. But on Wednesday President Trump granted him a pardon. Since the settlement, Trump and his family have developed a business relationship with Binance through World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture that is 60% owned by a Trump business entity. This partnership has reportedly increased the Trump family's net worth by approximately $500 million in just the past year. It's sure to go higher on news of the pardon. At first glance, Zhao’s pardon raises ethical concerns, even potential corruption allegations, as it appears to be influenced by the Trump family’s lucrative financial ties to Binance. Alternatively, some might see parallels to Trump’s past business ventures, such as his Atlantic City casinos (IYKYK). However, a closer look at the Binance/Zhao plea agreement and actions before and after its signing deflates the appearance of bad ethics and corruption. In truth, the pardon appears well deserved.
