Matt Fitzgibbons - historian, musician, and publisher of Patriot Music .com - will join me in the first hour. We will talk about the use of the National Guard and Marines by the federal government in Los Angeles. We will be looking at it from a historical perspective and will put some thought into what the fallout may be down the road. The battle of our lifetime is to return all branches of our federal government to doing the "work of the people." The debate on how to accomplish that has been varied: balanced budget requirements, term limits, etc. But one thing has been clear since the beginning of the discussion: we can't reasonably expect that Congress will vote to take away extra-constitutional powers that they have slowly gathered over the years. So what is the solution? Constitutional amendments. But wait, if Congress can't be relied on to pass laws responsibly, nor the President trusted not to issue Executive Orders when they don't get their way, nor the courts to make rulings in accordance with the actual law (and/or the Constitution) then how can we expect them to put in the work to carefully craft and then get a Constitutional amendment passed? We can't. That's why we should look to an Article 5 Convention of States. The COS movement is still working hard to restore this great nation by returning the federal government to how the Founders intended it to function. I am scheduled to be joined by Mark Meckler, founder of Citizens for Self-Governance, President and co-founder of Convention of States Action, and an attorney who specializes in internet privacy law, to discuss the latest in the effort to call the first-ever Article V Convention of States.
