I love a lot of Chevy Chase's humor, but he does have a reputation for being a jerk. I was surprised to catch this segment of the Tonight Show from May 9, 1979. Gallagher pushes Chase's buttons and at first, it looks as if they're just having fun 'till Chase tosses Gallagher's hat with a scowl and Johnny starts (nervously) laughing. Chase forced his way to sit next to Barbara Bach and after a while seems to think he's the star of the show. Awkward moment... May '79 was a big month for me.
