Building a DIY Hoop House in Italy (and why you should too)
FarmsVillaFinally the time has come to cover our DIY hoop house. If you haven't watched part 1 2 or 3 here they are. Part 1 - https://rumble.com/v6nyj2f-building-a-diy-hoop-house-in-italy-and-why-you-should-too.html Part 2 - https://rumble.com/v6nzv09-building-a-diy-hoop-house-in-italy-and-why-you-should-too.html Part 3 - https://rumble.com/v6o337l-building-a-diy-hoop-house-in-italy-and-why-you-should-too.html Winter is fast approaching and if we want to have salad year round this is required. In this episode we get the hoop house fully covered in plastic and the door installed. It is sealed and secure at this stage but there are still quite a few finishing touches required that will have to wait for another video. Sadly things seem to take longer the older I get. 😞 All in all I'm very happy with the end result but I know if I ever have to build another hoop house I will do a much better job based on the lessons learned from this one. 😀57 views -

FarmsVillaPart 3 of our hoop house build. If you haven't watched part 1 or 2 here they are. We finish off the hoop house ready for planting in this video by building the raised beds and installing the automated drip irrigation system which is imperative where we are. This year has been particularly brutal as far as the heat was concerned and even with the automated drip system we still lost some plants. Probably needed to increase the drip cycle more than I did to account for the extreme heat but I really didn’t want split tomatoes. 🙃 https://uppbeat.io/t/nick-petrov/diving-in-the-sky License code: NT7W29YQOF1YHZUA72 views -

If you haven't watched part 1 here it is. https://rumble.com/v6nyj2f-building-a-diy-hoop-house-in-italy-and-why-you-should-too.html We pick up where we left off in the last video, getting the end frames built. I wanted to make sure I had a sturdy surface to staple the plastic to as well as a flat surface for the end sheets of plastic which is why I landed on this design. I didn't want to wrap and fold the plastic over the ends as I've seen in other hoop house designs. We have high hopes for a good crop in the DIY hoop house once it is fully planted and eventually covered in plastic this fall. This is a much larger area to work in than our greenhouse which will be relegated to being a winter salad garden using hydroponics - well our interpretation of hydroponics anyway. 🙂 Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/nick-petrov/diving-in-the-sky License code: LVZS4QHPSJGSYXIX https://uppbeat.io/t/hartzmann/good-feelings License code: SVJXKJPCA8FW1STT68 views 1 comment -
Building a DIY Hoop House in Italy (and why you should too)
FarmsVillaAfter we decided we were going to take a stab at becoming as self sufficient as possible we realised our current greenhouse was not going to cut the mustard and we needed a bigger hoop house to fit our new requirements. We watched countless Youtube videos on how to build a greenhouse and hoop house. We certainly gained a lot of valuable knowledge from this exercise and the one thing I will say is do not be in too much of a hurry to finalise your design. The plan in my head must have changed at least 50 times during the time we were researching. The design was limited to what materials we could source here in Southern Italy. No matter how hard I looked I could not find cattle panels like the ones available in the USA so we had to improvise. 😀 Bear in mind the design is fluid through the whole process and is subject to change at the drop of a hat if I figure out a better way to do something while I am building the hoop house. Hopefully our design gives someone another way to build a hoop house without using cattle panels.
