Mansion of the Beast - Sylvester Levay
Later Days"Then suddenly everything changed, as if a line had been drawn across the desolation, and a beautiful forest began." So this Channel isn't just about Mixes, although they are a huge part of it. There are also movie scenes, 4 minute movies, rare tracks, all sorts of things that I'll be bringing over from the other Channels. I'll put all of those videos in a playlist called OTHERWORLD, and this will be the first video on it. Now THIS track is ULTRA RARE. It's so rare this may be the only instance of it anywhere. Somebody made a VHS tape of an episode of OTHERWORLD back in 1985 - I managed to harvest this clip from that. Beautiful music. Haunting. The show only ran for one season and then vanished. But even back then I knew there was something very special about it, especially the score composed by Sylvester Levay. This song also appears on the Mix TRINITY. Track Eight.17 views -
Ignorance and Want
Later Days"THEY ARE YOUR CHILDREN. THEY ARE CHILDREN OF ALL WHO WALK THE EARTH UNSEEN. THEIR NAMES ARE IGNORANCE AND WANT. BEWARE OF THEM, FOR UPON THEIR BROW IS WRITTEN THE WORD.....DOOM." May we all heed this warning from the past. Dickens knew what he was talking about. These shall be our children, the products of a fearful and spiritually bereft society, the spawn of a people who devalue and cheapen all life. Take the damn masks off of the children's faces, let them breathe the free air, and look upon them full in the face with Honesty and Love. If this is not done right now their Spirits may soon be damaged beyond the ability to heal. In twenty years time when we, the elderly, look to this younger generation for assistance and compassion, there we shall find only ignorance and want, callousness and cruelty. This need not be our fate if we turn the corner now. WE HAVE BEEN WARNED41 views 1 comment -
The Story of the Lambs
Later Days"But we don't reckon Time the same way do we? This is all the Time you'll ever have." Have you ever longed to see the uninterrupted story of Clarise and the lambs without that pesky movie getting in the way? Well, here ya go. Both Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins won the Oscar for their unforgettable performances. The two are rarely on screen together, with the story being told through close up after close up, going through the prison bars and then closer still. I don't even know if they were filmed together at all. It sure as hell seems like they're in the same room but you can never really tell with Movie Magic. Truly one of the greatest scenes in movie history. Howard Shore of Lord of the Rings fame delivers a perfect score here, both sad and beautiful and swelling at just the right moments. The whole movie IS amazing....maybe I'll do a Buffalo Bill homage someday. That would be a REAL comedy. "shay are you about a shize 14?"50 views 1 comment -
With Blinders On - Overboard! in Four Minutes and Nineteen Seconds
Later Days"Most of us go through life with blinders on, knowing only that one little station to which we were born. But now you, on the other hand, have had the rare privilege of escaping your bonds for just a spell....to see life from an entirely new perspective. How you choose to use that information is entirely up to you." - Roddy McDowall I watched OVERBOARD! the other day and wondered how far I could compress the movie into a bite-sized bit of content and still have it retain it's true meaning. Here's what I came up with. Four minutes and Nineteen seconds. Not bad. Next time we'll break the 4 minute barrier for sure.1.14K views -
Tiger in the Trees
Later DaysThere are so many incredible scenes in The Joy Luck Club that I had a hard time deciding which one to use. I finally decided on Tiger in the Trees, an emotional scene that deals with the Human Spirit and Redemption. Anyone who has never seen this movie owes it to themselves to experience it, especially mothers and daughters, whose unique bond is the central theme of the movie.1.08K views 4 comments -
Man of the People
Later Days"You cannot explain away a wantonly immoral act because you think that it is connected to some higher purpose" - Jean-Luc Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one? This is the quintessential question that Star Trek has grappled with for the past 50 years. This episode from season six of The Next Generation tackles this question head on. MAN OF THE PEOPLE is one of Star Trek's most important episodes. And I'll tell you this - those who exploit the innocent for their own ends will regret it for the rest of their lives....and beyond.1.02K views 3 comments -
Like a Dog Chasing Cars - Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard
Later DaysHave you ever been watching The Dark Knight and thinking "Wow, this movie is fantastic! And the score is SO good!" and then you suddenly get to the chase scene in the tunnel and the score just disappears? It turns out that scene WAS scored with a fantastic piece called LIKE A DOG CHASING CARS but the music was removed from the final version of the movie. I think the reason this song was cut from the final version of The Dark Knight is because having it in there made the scene too climactic for that moment in the movie. A song this incredible deserves more than the cutting room floor so I've put it back exactly where it should have been. LET LOOSE THE KRAKEN!!!!
Later Days"THE KINGDOM OF ACRISIUS MUST BE DESTROYED." Movie: Clash of the Titans (1981) Artists: Desmond Davis, Laurence Olivier, Maggie Smith, Ursula Andress Scene: Let Loose the Kraken This is my most watched video over on Youtube. It's Evergreen, so at almost all times somebody on this planet is watching it. I went back and took a look and woo boy, it's rough. I filmed it on my phone like 3 years ago and the quality is...shall we say...for shit. So I redid it for Rumble, polished it up a bit. It's such an engrossing scene, thanks mainly to Laurence Olivier's portrayal of Zeus, the best Zeus I've ever seen acted in all of cinema. And of course we have Dame Maggie Smith (God rest her talented soul) whose performance leaves you hanging on her every word. I don't know how she did it, but she did and she is sorely missed on this earth. A Masterclass in acting. I also have another scene from CLASH OF THE TITANS, where Calibos undergoes his horrific transformation as Zeus judges him for his unforgivable crimes. I'll be sure to put that one up soon as well.1.05K views -
Weird Science
Later DaysSigh. What a depressing day. Maybe we all need something to cheer us up. I KNOW!!! How about a nude woman getting sucked up a chimney and landing in a duck pond. Sound good to you? Alright, let's do this.1.13K views 3 comments -
Resurrection - Alan Silvestri
Later DaysGlory be to the Lord! It is again a time of hope, renewal and second chances. May the Stars shine down on us and may the Lord guide us in His Holy Light. I've always felt that The Abyss was one of Alan Silvestri's greatest musical accomplishments, and that's really saying something. In particular, this song, which is called "Resurrection". In the movie, it plays when Lindsey drowns and is brought back to life by Bud in one of the most harrowing and moving scenes in cinematic history. I wanted to take that song and expand upon it, using clips from the Special Edition of the movie as well as additional pieces of the score that contain refrains of the song. This is what I came up with. My goal was to honor and acknowledge the incredible work done not only by Alan Silvestri, but also by the director James Cameron and everyone who worked on this exceptional movie. Song: Resurrection (plus sections of the Main Title and Finale) Artist: Alan Silvestri Album: The Abyss OST Video Footage from The Abyss: Special Edition494 views 1 comment
