SUBSCRIBE to M1945 There were two main Police forces of Nazi Germany under the Reichsführer-SS, Heinrich Himmler from 1936: Ordnungspolizei (Orpo; order police) consisting of the regular uniformed police - Gemeindepolizei (GemPo; municipal protection police) - Schutzpolizei (SchuPo; state protection police) Sicherheitspolizei (SiPo; security police) consisting of two sub-departments, the Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo; secret state police) and Kriminalpolizei (Kripo; criminal police) In September 1939, the SiPo and the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) were folded into the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (RSHA; Reich Security Main Office) where they were made separate departments. LEADERSHIP The leadership of the German police was formally vested in the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick from January 1933, who along with Hermann Göring exercised executive power over Germany's police organs; this was an important part of Adolf Hitler's effort to increase his administrative grip over the nation. On 17 June 1936, Hitler appointed Himmler chief of the German police, which resulted in a "unified concentration of the entire police apparatus...and the administrative concentration of the police forces of the entire Reich."[2] This action effectively merged the police into the SS and removed it from Frick's control.[3] As Germany's most senior policeman, Himmler had two goals; first the official goal of centralization and Gleichschaltung: reforming the German police forces after Nazi Party ideals; secondly, the unofficial goal of making the German police an adjunct of the SS, thereby increasing his power base and improving his standing among Hitler's vassals.[4] By August 1936, the Gestapo was standardized across the Reich, wherein all political police—of which there were seventeen different organs—were merged. Command and control of the Ordnungspolizei (Orpo) was exerted through Hauptamt Ordnungspolizei, founded in 1936, under the successive leadership of Kurt Daluege (1936–1943), who was later replaced by Alfred Wünnenberg (1943–1945).[6] Command and control of the Gestapo and the Kripo were since 1936 exerted through Hauptamt Sicherheitspolizei, and from 1939 through the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (RSHA). These organization along with the Sicherheitsdienst (SD), became departments of the RSHA—initially under Heydrich (1936–1942) and then Ernst Kaltenbrunner (1943–1945) until World War II's end.59 views -
Nordic Runes and the Manipulation of Germanic History - Roots of German Militarism № 2

SUBSCRIBE to M1945 Nazi Germany appropriated Nordic runes and symbols, infusing them with their own ideology and beliefs to further their agenda of racial purity and Aryan supremacy. Here are some examples of how these symbols were interpreted and utilized by the Nazis: 1. Runes as Aryan Symbols: The Nazis promoted the idea that the runes, particularly the Elder Futhark, were symbols of an ancient Aryan heritage. They believed that these symbols connected them to a "noble" past, linking their ideology to a mythologized vision of Germanic ancestry. 2. The SS and Symbols: Heinrich Himmler, leader of the SS (Schutzstaffel), was particularly interested in the runes. The SS adopted the "Sig Rune" (ᛋ) as their insignia, which resembled the Latin letter "S." Himmler viewed this rune as a representation of strength and victory, aligning it with the Nazi ethos of domination. 3. The Ahnenerbe: This organization was established by the Nazis to research the ancestral heritage of the Aryan race. They studied ancient symbols, including runes, to promote the idea of a racially pure lineage. Runes were used in ceremonies and propaganda to validate their beliefs in Aryan superiority. 4. Propaganda and Media: Runes and other symbols were often featured in Nazi propaganda as part of the attempt to create a sense of unity and cultural revival among the German population. They were used in various forms of media, from posters to films, to evoke a romanticized vision of an ancient, noble Germanic past. 5. Cultural Festivals: The Nazis incorporated runes into cultural festivals and rituals, emphasizing a return to ancient Germanic traditions. These events were meant to reinforce nationalist sentiment and promote the image of the "pure" Germanic race. 6. Architecture and Art: Runes were also used in Nazi architectural designs and visual arts. Public buildings and monuments sometimes featured runic inscriptions as a way to connect Nazi ideology with historical and mythical Germanic heritage. The overall interpretation of Nordic runes by Nazi Germany was part of a broader effort to reshape German culture and identity in line with their ideology of racial superiority. This appropriation was often devoid of genuine historical or cultural understanding, repurposing ancient symbols to serve a modern totalitarian agenda.96 views -
Waffen SS Mythology and War without Mercy - Roots of German Militarism № 1

Best way to support the channel! SUBSCRIBE to M1945 The roots of German militarism evolved over centuries and culminated during the 3rd Reich. It grew to dominate most aspects of German society and eventually resulted in the nation’s complete annihilation. Relying heavily on primary historical sources, we’ll focus on evidence of the influence of this tendency. In part one of the series I’ll introduce an example of how Waffen SS men were indoctrinated to embrace the violence and cruelty of the allegedly heroic struggle that they were engaged in. To keep your attention I’ve mixed in nice film footage that goes well with the subject matter so go ahead and subscribe to the channel and stick around, it’s worth it, I promise. Today’s source is a text from this original late1943 Schützstaffel Handbook. The article stresses the responsibility to past, present and future generations even reminding the SS man of their comrades who lie buried in the east. It attempts to justify the psychological damage received by soldiers engaging in close combat as necessary in order to gain a heightened awareness of one’s role within the German Ethos. WAR WITHOUT MERCY We have entered the arena of a battle that is without mercy. The people who clash in it are two types of the human race, mortal enemies. In a higher sense, a war is being fought here that is truly the father of all things. Its outcome will decide the face of a future world. In the fury of this battle, the world must be transformed, the features of satanic hatred and barbarism must be erased, the face of the new world must no longer have a place for it. The sword alone decides in this battle, in which all the fragments that could lead to one another have been destroyed. How many times in this campaign has the soldier of the Eastern Front stood face to face with this enemy. Even in the fury and rage of modern battles, that will always be the decisive, the most difficult moment. When man faces man with weapon in hand, burning hate in their eyes, the will to destroy in their hearts, and one has to sink to clear the way for the other to continue on to a new fight. It will always be the most terrible moment when human being collides with human being and the final decision is made. Close combat is without mercy! You or I, there is nothing else left in the world. Anyone who has never felt the enemy's hot breath on his face or seen the murderous look in his eyes does not know the deepest secret of war that is revealed at this moment. Man is the master of all things; the power of the world lies in his will and in his hands. Only he has felt this who has gone through this merciless battle and, purified, even stronger, knowing his own power and the limitlessness of the human will, has passed through a hundred deaths and once again entered the gate of life. We have long since stopped fighting for victories and successes, as we know them from other battles. The whole of the West is fighting its final, decisive battle within us, within each and every one of us. Two worlds are at war, one of which must and will break apart, otherwise world history would have lost its meaning. Each and every one of us feels the violence of this battle with full awareness, as a battle in which everything that a thousand-year history has placed in us is fighting with us. And the good spirits of our comrades in Russian soil live on in us day after day and warn us not to tire. Bolshevism itself has taught us the lesson that there can be no half-measures in this conflict. We have become as hard as steel, only willpower decides. We know that fate is in our hands, and we will force it. (...)85 views
