Gli acquedotti romani erano una delle più grandi opere di ingegneria dell'antica Roma. Consentivano di trasportare l'acqua dalle sorgenti alle città, fornendo acqua potabile e irrigazione. Gli acquedotti più famosi sono l'Acqua Claudia e l'Acqua Marcia di Roma. I ponti romani erano costruiti per attraversare fiumi e altri corsi d'acqua. Erano solitamente costruiti in pietra o in mattoni, e avevano un'arcata centrale che sosteneva il peso della struttura. I ponti più famosi sono il Ponte Milvio di Roma e il Ponte di Augusto di Narni. Le strade romane erano un'importante rete di comunicazione che collegava le diverse parti dell'impero. Erano costruite in pietra o in terra battuta, e avevano una superficie liscia che permetteva un facile passaggio. Le strade più famose sono la Via Appia e la Via Flaminia di Roma.

Le venationes (sing. venatio, ital. caccia) erano una forma di divertimento negli anfiteatri romani che implicavano la caccia e l'uccisione di animali selvatici. Le bestie selvatiche ed esotiche venivano portate a Roma dai lontani confini dell'Impero romano e le venationes si svolgevano durante la mattina, prima del principale evento pomeridiano, i duelli gladiatori. Episode 2: Larry Lamb reveals how the Roman Empire became the dominant power in the Mediterranean. Beginning his quest at the Roma Termini train station in central Rome, he learns how the city was attacked by the Gauls in the Battle of the Allia, fought roughly 400 years BC. The city of Rome was sacked and razed to the ground by the Gauls who also killed many of its citizens, which led to the construction of a great wall to protect the city from future raids. This three-year conflict inflicted great losses and damage. The city survived, but only just and the leaders vowed to never come so close to destruction again.
