Ridgeview. Winter’s Jest. One very important question: What actually happens if you fill Krampus’s sack correctly? The answer, it turns out, requires learning the hard way. We run two attempts at Ridgeview, mostly because someone (and I’m not naming names) discovered that rocks and coal are very much not the same thing. Get it wrong, and Krampus is not forgiving — the sack fills with coal, spits one back at you for emphasis, and you’re officially done. But get it right? You get a present. This episode features one successful attempt, rewarding us with sanity cookies. Which sounds great… right up until one of the objectives is “get under 25% sanity.” Cue a noble sacrifice, questionable decisions, and a truly impressive moment where I absolutely meant to smudge the ghost and instead threw my lighter away while toggling my flashlight like a professional. I went into the Winter’s Jest event mostly blind. I knew Krampus was involved. I knew it would probably work like past events. And that’s… about all I knew. As we bounced between Maple Lodge, Point Hope, Ridgeview, and Tanglewood, I kept noticing strange little things scattered everywhere — candy canes, tiny capybaras, toy soldiers, snowmen, all sorts of cute little guys just sitting there. Add in a massive sack pinned with a Naughty & Nice list, and I fully assumed this was just festive decoration while we hunted ghosts. That assumption did not last long. Our very first investigation delivers a shock: there are three new ghosts added for the event — and suddenly every contract feels a lot more dangerous. From there, the mystery just keeps piling up. What are all these objects for? Why does that sack feel important? And why does everything suddenly click in Tanglewood? Once we realize what we’re supposed to be doing, it becomes a race against sanity to finish the task in time… and we come up just one item short. Was it a gift? A train? Something else entirely? Desperation sets in, questionable choices are made, and Krampus decides to personally weigh in on our efforts. Let’s just say… he had notes. Nell’s Diner has become our favorite little haunt these past few episodes, and today we set out to finish what we started: finding the last three cursed objects tucked somewhere in that retro nightmare. The monkey paw, the cursed mirror, and the music box were still hiding from us, and we were determined to track them down. One ghost absolutely despised Night and kept yeeting objects at her with Olympic precision, and I got surprise-hunted at least once while feeling way too confident.
