Micheal Jones, candidate for Circuit Court Judge in the 16th Judicial district has released a video accusing the Rutherford County GOP Chairman Austin Maxwell of conspiring to keep him off the Republican Primary ballot. As it stands, no other Republican candidate qualified, or attempted to qualify, to run in this race. The incumbent, was originally appointed by Governor Phil Bredeson--the last Democratic Governor for the State of Tennessee. Jones also alleges in his video that there has been a long-standing understanding within the GOP that the incumbent, Honorable Judge Mark Rogers, would "retire in a year or two and [the establishment] would get to engage in the appointment process." Even more telling is the claim that a text message sent to State Representative Sparks from Rutherford County GOP Chairman Austin Maxwell stated pressure was being applied to Maxwell to keep Mr. Jones off the GOP ballot. Jones also alleges that just days later he was asked via a proxy to withdraw his name from the race in exchange for the support of a Senior Judge with the Tennessee Supreme Court, Don Ashe, in his next race. As many of you know I am currently representing myself in litigation against Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris. I wanted to take a moment and explain what sparked this action. I first became aware of the unlawful censorship on the Putnam County Sheriff's page in March 2022. When I started looking into it, I realized there was a lot more going on then just deleting comments. I discovered dozens of comments being deleted were in reference to the Case of Joshua Bohannon, a young man who had been missing and who was unfortunately found deceased. Some commenters had their words removed when they offered VERY SMALL AND MINOR corrections to the Sheriff's press statement (ya know, like who reported him missing). Others were more critical in their comments and accused the department of lying about how hard they looked for Mr. Bohannon. Others mentioned a "ban list" banning people from even going into the police department. The best part is--one of these people isn't even a real person! Ha! Some great detective work there pokey! Shortly after publishing my article on the situation in March, I was repeatedly harassed by a fake profile who seemed to have access to the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System, or TIBRS. This led me to believe it was retaliation by someone close to or even within the department. More on that in a later video. What I have discovered over the last 8 months is a disturbing pattern of retaliation against those who dare question the Putnam County Sheriff's Office or Sheriff Eddie Farris.
