Thessalonians - 1st & 2nd 2020

2 Th 1:5 This is a plain indication of God's righteous judgment so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering. They are considered worthy of the Kingdom of Elohim because they are faithful to his Instructions even in their suffering. 2 Th 1:6 For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 2 Th 1:7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, 2 Th 1:8 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Paul says that Master Yeshua will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire to deal out retribution to those who do not know Him and do not obey the Gospel of Yeshua Messiah. Paul knows that The Day of the Yahweh being described as Him coming in fire dealing out retribution to His enemies who disobey His Torah is found in the Tanakh. Isaiah 66:15-17 For behold, the LORD will come in fire And His chariots like the whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire. 16For the LORD will execute judgment by fire And by His sword on all flesh, And those slain by the LORD will be many. 17“Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go to the gardens, Following one in the center, Who eat swine’s flesh, detestable things, and mice, Shall come to an end altogether,” declares the LORD. Deut 32:41-43 If I sharpen My flashing sword, And My hand takes hold on justice, I will render vengeance on My adversaries, And I will repay those who hate Me. 42‘I will make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword shall devour flesh, With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the long-haired leaders of the enemy.’ 43“Rejoice, O nations, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And will render vengeance on His adversaries, And will atone for His land and His people.” Ezek 38:21-23 “And I shall call for a sword against him on all My mountains,” declares the Lord GOD. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22“And with pestilence and with blood I shall enter into judgment with him; and I shall rain on him, and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23“And I shall magnify Myself, sanctify Myself, and make Myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will know that I am the LORD.”’ 2 Th 1:9 And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, Those who do not obey the Gospel of Master Yeshua and do not know Elohim will pay the penalty of eternal destruction. What does it mean to obey the Gospel of Master Yeshua? It means to obey righteousness. Romans 2:5-13 Those who do not know Elohim are those who do not obey His commandments. Matt. 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ 1 John 2:3-7 In this second letter to the assembly, Paul deals again with the worries of some that their loved ones had died and will not be a part of the kingdom. In the first letter, he said that the dead in Messiah will rise first before those who are alive are changed. They were also convinced by some that the Day of Yahweh had already come! In this letter, Paul refutes that and tells them that they did not miss His return and that certain things that must happen before the return of Messiah. What things must happen first? It was things that had not yet happened in Paul's day. Have they happened yet? Yes they have happened! Paul taught this assembly much of the writings of Daniel and Ezekiel! 1 Th 1:9 For they themselves report about us what kind of a reception we had with you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, Paul tells these people, that when he told them of Torah, they turned from their idols and served Elohim only. They quit celebrating Xmas, Ishtar and sun-god-day worship ceremonies. 1 Th 1:10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come. This "wrath to come" they will be delivered from is not the "rapture." it is the final judgment of Elohim. John the Witness talked about the same thing to the Pharisees and Sadduccees. They were not to be spared from the judgment of Elohim. Matt. 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? This book is a letter written by the Apostle Paul in probably 52 or 53 AD. If that's true, then that makes this the first epistle that Paul wrote. (The english word "epistle" simply means "written correspondence.") Thessalonica was a Roman colony. It was located 50 miles west of Phillipi. These letters to the Thessalonians are most often used to justify the strange allegations of a "rapture" and an "Antichrist" in prophecy. But did Paul really teach those things? Was Paul ever really given new prophetic revelation, or was he just teaching prophecy as it is given in the Tanakh? Set apart an hour or so and see if you don't agree!
