The Little Season

HiddenRabbit3 While most people know the cathedral for its incredible Gothic architecture, very few realise just how dramatic the post-war digging and restoration actually was. This video was inspired by the old surviving photographs taken during the excavation work led by Otto Doppelfeld, and the more I looked into those images, the more unbelievable the story became. Throughout this project, I wanted to understand not just what they were digging out, but why so much of the ground around the cathedral looked like it had swallowed entire structures. The deeper I researched, the stranger and more intriguing the timeline became. In this film, I break down the surviving photos, the hidden foundations, the underground chambers, and all the mysterious architectural layers that were uncovered in 1946.
