Simple searches online regarding different annona fruits are surprisingly full of incorrect information, which was inspired me to make this video. Cherimoya The cherimoya is the heart shaped annona fruit that white flesh on the inside. It has a delicious and very sweet taste with a creamy texture. If you’ve never had one before you’ll be surprised on heavy it is for it’s size. 9. Rollinia This yellow annona fruit is native to South America. The rollinia is green when growing on the tree but turns yellow then black when ripe. It is eaten almost always raw but is also made into wine in Brazil. The taste can only be described as lemon meringue pie or creamy lemon sherbet. 8. Sugar Apple The sugar apple also named sweetsop is the most widely grown species of annona fruit. It is uncertain where the sugar apple came from but it’s believed around the Caribbean basin. 7. PawPaw The pawpaw is large fruit native to North America. It tastes of a mix of banana and mango with a soft creamy texture. They don’t ship well so if you haven’t heard of it that would be why. The tree grows to about 20 feet tall but sometimes up to 30 feet. 6. Atemoya or Custard Apple The Atemoya fruit is also known as the custard apple. This fruit is a deliberate hybrid of the cherimoya plus the sugar apple. It is commonly thought of being the best tasting annona fruit. 5. Soursop or Guanabana The soursop is the big boy of the annona fruits. They come from the West Indies and produce a fruit that is over a foot long. It tastes like a mix of banana, strawberry, pineapple with delicate flavors and scents of citrus and coconut. 4. Kepel Apple This weird variety grows right out of the trunk of a tree. It originates from Indonesia and still grows wildly in the forests of Java. This fruit has a plethora of health benefits used by locals for generations. 3. Pond Apple This unique variety of annona is also called alligator apple or monkey apple. It's native to the West Indies but has flourished in the Caribbean, Florida and Australia. It has yellow flesh on the inside unlike many of the other annonas but isn't the best tasting annona fruits. 2. Marolo The Marolo is a staple jungle fruit of native people in Paraguay and Brazil. Not much is known about this fruit but the food industry has recently taken interest in it, adding it to snack bars. 1.Llama Grown in Central America the Llama fruit, sweet name right, grows to around 6 inches or almost 2 decimeters in size and weighs around 2 lbs or 1 kg.
