Oak Hill Church of Christ 8-17-25 "Contingent Contentment"
The Oak Hill Church of ChristOak Hill Church of Christ Preaching Minister, Randy Sterling, delivers a message on the importance of being content with what God has provided in our lives. In the second Back to the Future movie, Doc Brown heads to the future of 2015 (yes, that's 10 years ago now) and sees that things haven't all turned out the way they should have. His friend Marty's life is a mess and his family is in dysfunction. So he recruits Marty and his girlfriend to go to the future of 2015 to set things right. The result is complete chaos. Changing events has a knock-on effect that results in the collapse of the present into a dystopian nightmare. Often, we may think to ourselves that if we could change the circumstances we're in, if we could change an event, undo a decision, or force an outcome, then our lives would be better. Then we'd be happy. Then we'd rejoice in what God has given us and the blessings He bestows. What the Bible teaches in Philippians 4:11 that the goal of the Christian is not to try to change what will be, or mourn over what was, but, rather, to find peace in what is. Today is the day God has given for all the things that today brings. The Christian should learn to find peace in 'today,' knowing that it is God who will deliver tomorrow, if that is His will. If you find yourself discontented because you mourn over the past, or fear for the future, consider shrinking your focus to today, and finding God's power to take that challenge on. As Paul writes in verse 13, "I can do everything through Christ, who strengthens me."31 views -
Oak Hill Church of Christ 7-13-25 Message: "Surrender Your Guilt To Jesus"
The Oak Hill Church of ChristOak Hill Church of Christ Preaching Minister, Randy Sterling, delivers a message on God's power to do more than just forgive sin, His power to repair the soul. Everyone does things they regret; even more, they know things done to them that they wish other people would regret. The frustration and angst of the spirit as it collects wrongs done and wrongs received can feel like a crushing weight. In fact, it can actually begin to rot the body from inside as David suggests in Psalm 32. There's a reason old Disney villains bore such cruel, weathered faces: A life full of corruption corrupts. God announces to us that, through His Son Jesus, we have the promise of not only forgiveness of sin, but restoration to fullness of life. Jesus says in John 10:10, "I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly." God reveals to us in Acts 2:5-7 that He loves us so much that when He reveals Himself to us, He does not do so with foreign words and vague signs. He speaks to us with the words of our hometown. He loves us so much He's sent a Comforter to us that ministers to our spirit as though he was our childhood neighbor. So great is not only God's power, but his love to reveal Himself to us in such a personal way. That God, the God who speaks your language and knows your heart and calls Himself your Father, wants to do more than just cancel your debt; He wants to restore you to spiritual prosperity. If you have a past full of regrets you wrestle with, if you've been storing up spiritual debt, believing that the red ink is too much for even God to handle, it's time to give up that struggle. God already knows what happened. When you come to Him with a spirit of repentance, God will do more than remove that burden, He will restore you. The red ink of your spiritual debt has been covered in the Blood of Christ. The color is the same, He can't see those numbers anymore. Rejoice and celebrate, and trust in God, knowing that those guilty stains have been covered over, and all God sees is His beloved child.14 views -
