Sigmund and the Sea Monsters is an American live-action children's television series produced by Sid and Marty Krofft that originally aired on NBC from 1973 to 1975
Original Series (1973–1975)
The original series centers on two brothers, Johnny (Johnny Whitaker) and Scott Stuart (Scott Kolden), who discover a friendly young sea monster named Sigmund Ooze on the beach near Dead Man's Point. Sigmund had been ostracized by his dysfunctional family—Big Daddy Ooze, Sweet Mama Ooze, and brothers Blurp and Slurp—for his refusal to frighten humans.
The boys hide Sigmund in their clubhouse, and most episodes involve their efforts to keep him a secret from their overbearing housekeeper, Zelda (Mary Wickes), and the local Sheriff, Chuck Bevans (Joe Higgins), while also protecting him from his family's attempts to bring him home. The show was known for its catchy theme song and guest appearances by stars like Rip Taylor (as Sheldon the Sea Genie) and Margaret Hamilton.

1973 Sigmund & The Sea Monsters #4 Is There a Doctor in the Cave?
MemoryCryptofCastleHillsSigmund and the Sea Monsters is a classic American children's television series created by legendary producers Sid and Marty Krofft. The show originally aired on NBC from September 8, 1973, to October 18, 1975, and is celebrated for its whimsical puppetry and colorful, live-action storytelling. The series follows the adventures of Sigmund Ooze, a friendly, green sea monster who is kicked out of his home at Dead Man's Point by his dysfunctional family because he refuses to scare humans. Main Plot: Brothers Johnny and Scott Stuart (portrayed by Johnny Whitaker and Scott Kolden) find Sigmund on the beach and hide him in their backyard clubhouse to protect him from the outside world and his own mean family. Sigmund Ooze: Performed by Billy Barty and voiced by Walker Edmiston. The Ooze Family: Includes Big Daddy, Sweet Mama, and bumbling brothers Blurp and Slurp. Supporting Cast: Mary Wickes played the boys' overbearing housekeeper, Zelda. In the second season, Rip Taylor joined the cast as Sheldon the Sea Genie. Production Notes: The show was the first Krofft production to be renewed for a second season. A major fire during the taping of the second season destroyed many of the original sets and costumes, forcing the rest of the season to be filmed with minimal sets. "Is There a Doctor in the Cave?" is the fourth episode of the first season of the live-action series Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. It originally aired on September 29, 1973. Plot: Sigmund becomes ill, and the only known cure is the special food (or "medicine") kept in Sweet Mama's refrigerator back at the Sea Monster cave. Conflict: Johnny and Scott must sneak into the Ooze family cave to retrieve the food. During the mission, Johnny is captured by Sigmund's family. Subplot: While the boys are dealing with the Ooze family, the Wolfman makes a surprise guest appearance at the sea monsters' cave. Director: Richard Dunlap Writer: Si Rose Key Cast: Johnny Whitaker (Johnny), Scott Kolden (Scott), and Billy Barty (Sigmund).79 views -
