C64 Preview - Toki Remastered - (Level 1 - beta 0.9)- PAL 50fps
AxelFollyUpcoming remastered version of Toki on the Commodore 64 Get Preview here: https://daves-retro-forge.itch.io/toki-c64-remastered --- As the name suggests, Toki C64 Remastered is a radical enhancement—with all-new graphics and sound—of the Commodore 64 game Toki, originally developed by Ocean in 1991. Ocean's Toki was the licensed conversion of the eponymous arcade game, also known as JuJu Densetsu in Japan. The project was started on February 6, 2023, by Davide Bottino, retro games creator and journalist at Zzap! Magazine Italia, out of a passion for the original game and a desire to overcome the technical and artistic limitations of the existing C64 conversion. While above average for the machine's standards, the original 1991 Toki is not entirely satisfying for a fan of the arcade game, especially due to its poorly designed sprites. Although well-crafted, the backgrounds were converted from the Amiga version instead of the coin-op, and the soundtrack is completely different from the arcade original. Technically a hack of the original program and not a rewrite from scratch, Toki Remastered will feature greatly improved graphics, a true to arcade soundtrack, and gameplay fixes. Several well-known figures from the C64 coding and hacking scene have joined the project over its nearly 2 years. Their expertise and passion have been instrumental in bringing Davide's ambitious vision to life. Key Enhancements Goals Complete redesign of all the sprites, ensuring fidelity to the original arcade. Extensive touch-ups to the backgrounds, including a full redesign of the final level, to bring them closer to the arcade look while optimizing the pixel art for CRT as well as modern HD monitors. Restoration of the original arcade music. Fixing of bugs and errors. Gameplay optimization, addressing frustrating issues like overly sensitive controls and collision detection. Toki Remastered will be released as a free digital download containing a .crt (cartridge image) file, playable on C64 emulators or real hardware through devices such as the Kung Fu Flash. Development Status On December 24, 2024, we released a Demo of Level 1, v0.9, featuring 100% redrawn sprites (while backgrounds, sound, and gameplay remain identical to the 1991 version in the demo). The full Beta v0.9 with all levels will be available in the coming weeks. As a final goal, we are also working on an advanced version with completely remastered graphics and sound, along with other improvements described above.21 views -

C64 Game - New! : Tony - Montezuma's Gold V2.1 - Colour version! - PAL 50fps
AxelFollyGet it here: https://monochrome-productions.itch.io/tony 00:00:21 Intro 00:03:07 Main Screen / Music 00:04:30 Gameplay 00:08:55 Game over Screen / Music --- Embark on a pixelated journey inspired by Tony Halik, the real-life Polish explorer and filmmaker whose adventures spanned continents and decades. He was exploring ancient civilisations for NBC, Tony's love of discovery knew no bounds. Now it's your turn to step into Tony's digital shoes and unravel the mysteries of Montezuma's Castle in this nostalgic 8-bit homage. Tips from an earlier explorer Legend has it that Montezuma's Mask is more than just an artifact. Find it, and you may reveal more than its shiny surface. The door to something monumental awaits you! Now, let’s talk strategy! Think of your points as your lifeline—literally. Every 3,000 points grants you an extra life, so collect those treasures like a squirrel hoarding nuts. You start with five lives, and they don't come easy, so cherish each one. Jewels, worth 200 points each, and potions, worth 100 points, are your best friends. But hey, if you’re feeling feisty, you can use those potions to send enemies to an early grave, earning you 50 points per vanquished foe. Your inventory is a bit of a tight squeeze, with only four slots available. Keys, masks, and potions are the hot items here, while jewels thankfully don't take up any space. Be strategic—once an item is in your inventory, it’s there to stay until used or booted by a higher-priority item. Masks top the priority list (essential for level completion), followed by keys, and lastly potions. Don’t forget, keys unlock doors, masks complete levels, and unused items vanish into thin air when you advance to the next stage. So, plan wisely and keep an eye out for Montezuma’s legendary mask—your ticket to the next adventure! Oh, and here’s a juicy secret for you: keep an eye out for hidden rooms, packed with additional treasures like jewels. They’re the stuff of legends, often tucked away where you’d least expect them. And sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll stumble upon hidden passages that whisk you away to higher levels. So don’t just walk by that suspicious-looking wall—give it a nudge and see what happens. Your path to glory could be just a secret passage away!79 views 1 comment
