Patio Gardening

Scored a few pounds of free fruit & vegetables last night while cleaning, not to eat but to compost and/or use as worm food! I shredded some fresh cardboard for the compost tumbler to keep the C/N ratio good (plus just to keep all of the fine wet stuff from matting together and going anaerobic), but did this off camera. I added quite a bit of fresh cardboard to worm bin last week, so it was still balanced with today's worm feast.

I filmed this yesterday, but didn't upload until today. Got tired of slacking and wanted to get this planter box done before people came over for Christmas. Managed to keep okra and alfalfa alive for two summers in its twin on the other side of the front door (some afternoon shade present due to garage), so will try some different things here. Going to see if carrots, alfalfa, and/or nasturtium sprout in the next week!

A quick, long overdue garden update!

Still exploring using cigar ash as soil amendment and/or compost ingredient. Additionally, experimenting with cellophanes as good carbon source in compost.

Been sidetracked with other projects, so haven't put much effort into patio "garden" this spring. A lot of what's growing either overwintered of self-seeded.

Got a few things growing still here in Zone 9B in November.
