Vangelis was a Greek musician, composer, and producer of electronic, progressive, ambient, and classical orchestral music. He composed the Academy Award-winning score to Chariots of Fire (1981), as well as scores for the films Blade Runner (1982), Missing (1982), Antarctica (1983), The Bounty (1984), 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992), and Alexander (2004), and the 1980 PBS documentary series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage by Carl Sagan.
Jon and Vangelis was a music collaboration between British rock singer Jon Anderson (lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Yes) and Greek synthesizer musician Vangelis. The duo released 4 albums between 1980 and 1991.

Short Stories is the debut album by Jon and Vangelis, the collaboration between Jon Anderson of the progressive rock band Yes and electronic music pioneer Vangelis. This was not the 1st time that the two had worked together: Vangelis had auditioned to be Rick Wakeman's replacement in Yes in 1974, but the role was given to Patrick Moraz. In 1975, Anderson sang on "So Long Ago So Clear" from Heaven and Hell studio album by Vangelis. All music of the album is composed by Jon Anderson and Vangelis; all lyrics by Jon Anderson. This Canadian issue includes FREE 12" single 45RPM of "I'll Find My Way home" & "I Hear You Now". I'll Find My Way Home was included as well in the 2nd edition of Jon and Vangelis' 1981 album The Friends of Mr Cairo. The Friends of Mr Cairo is the 2nd album by Jon and Vangelis, released in July 1981 on Polydor. Its accompanying music video serves as an ode to classic Hollywood films of the 1930s and 1940s, including references to the classic film noir The Maltese Falcon. Joel Cairo (Mr Cairo) is the character played by Peter Lorre in The Maltese Falcon. The track incorporates sound effects and voice impressions of the stars of the era, most notably Lorre, Humphrey Bogart, Sydney Greenstreet, and Jimmy Stewart. The title track includes the sounds of screeching car tires. These were sampled from the audio track of the film Get Carter.
