Snarky? Prickly? Rally Love!
HeartTOHeart#1MinuteEncouragement Barriers! There are good, natural barriers like a beautiful stately sand dune. We have barriers too, sometimes they are in our heart, like a protective barrier. If someone is very grouchy, we call them “prickly” and we don’t cross over that barrier they put up, we stay away. Got a barrier put up in your heart? Heart check for symptoms that lash out at others with grouchiness, snarky, disrespect, stuck up attitudes, or bitter moods. We put up barriers, prickly emotional barriers to keep people out, we have been hurt and we trust no one to get near our heart, so we isolate ourselves with barriers. Then from the opposite perspective, we are afraid to reach for a beautiful rose, not wanting to get pricked by the thorns. When someone is being prickly with their snarky, irritable attitudes, does this stop us from befriending them? Do we give up too quickly when a person is prickly? Trust God with your heart, He won’t put you in a friendship that will wound your heart beyond repair. He will give you the strength, protection and discernment you need to embrace a rose, without getting pricked by the thorns. Gods got an ocean of love to flow through you, so take down the barriers and let the love of God surge freely. #DigDeeper https://thebridegroomscafe.com/tell-your-heart-to-beat/226 views -
True Love
HeartTOHeartToday I am thinking about how true love plays itself out in our lives and in our relationships. What say you about love? I am thinking love doesn’t demand its own way, it is not self seeking, and from Jesus, I learned it is very sacrificial. True love has a lot of facets and it is recognized by being more concerned for others than yourself. True Love… I hope that for all of us to have this kind of love where someone is sacrificing for us, loving us unconditionally, is kind to us when we don’t deserve it. Unconditional love is the kind of love we receive from Jesus and it is the best kind of love that we will ever know. The unconditional love of Jesus, it gives us room to grow. So, I hope that for us, I pray that for us. It can’t be true love when conditions are put on it. Either you do this, or I won’t love you. Conditions that are prerequisite for friendship, for being able to hang around you or talk to you are a harsh environment for love to even grow in. The kind of condition in a friendship where you are “ghosted” by the person if you don’t act the way they think you should act, or speak the way they think you should speak, according to their needs or their image. When people try to plaster their image on you, what they were created to be and they withhold love because you can’t measure up to that, this is not true love, this is conditional and usually ends up wounding people’s hearts. May God bless us with true love, with friendship love that is accepting, unconditional and never, ever excluding because of expectations that can’t be met. God bless ya. The Language Of Love
HeartTOHeartAs I was thinking on how it felt to be a foreigner, not being able to understand the Language and learning the culture, the Holy Spirit had something to teach me about myself. I began thinking about how we have a “culture” as Christians. We sometimes speak in our “Christian Language” with our scriptures and “Christian Sayings” that people outside our faith may not be able to understand or grasp. We may come across as standoffish, or should I say, self righteous to those who don’t “speak our language.” What is the universal language that everyone can understand? I think it is the actions of love and kindness. People will read us, not our Bible, and sometimes, we ourselves are the breakers of our language barriers by how we act. We don’t need to say a thing, people will watch our lives, and learn about Jesus, and if they don’t understand our language or Christian culture, they will understand our humble attitude, kindness, patience, forbearance, selflessness, and love. Godly actions, genuine heart felt love, and humble kindness, all these things point to Jesus, and make our Christian culture desirable to those who haven’t learned to speak our Christian language or know our King.114 views
