Solar Koi Pond using the ECOFLOW Delta 2 Max Power Station and one Back-Up Battery. Using a 100 Watt Pump that generates 1600 US Gallons per hour. This approach cuts down on electricity usage making owning a Koi Pond affordable. On cloudy days, I might have to supplement the Power Station by tapping into the main line electricity. Living in Southern California our Electric Company charges a Premium of 20 percent added charge during the hours of 4PM to 9PM. OUch. If this Solar approach works, it will be making / having a Koi Pond affordable. If you have 10 Koi Pond owners you might have 10 different approaches to maintaining the ponds cleanliness. I believe my approach given the choices of maintenance (bio filters) the easiest and is less costly in over-all set-up. Come follow my choices and why I use this simplest approach. You will only find this material on Rumble. This Playlist starts at the very beginning, and then ending with the very latest update.

Koi Ponds
Koi PondsEvery video from here on, will be prettier and exciting. This is 'Work in Progress'. The paint cans will be gone, water will be added and a waterfall will be working. The gray painted area is the 'spill way' which I hope produces a nice web of water pouring down. This is a rather large Koi Pond with two islands in the middle. Some area's are rather deep, and the inside of the pond has been painted with a Black rubberized paint. The pond will be Solar powered using the EF EcoFlow Power Station aided with a 'back-up' battery. I did buy a measuring device hooked up to the garden hose, so I can accurately measure the gallons of water being introduced into the pond. The paint is curing and will be filled up in 3 days. I plan on making a video of the water being added. If you are interested in my progress, please subscribe because it will give me motivation in making these video's.30 views -
Pond Pump
kkapple25Hooking up a 100 watt pond pump. Sounds easy enough, but maybe hook it all up before you use the pvc piping glue.17 views -
Koi Pond
kkapple25Back from Home Depot, took the starch right out of me. All that walking, and to boot, my wife had to look for the perfect parking space. I found all the parts I needed to assemble the pump and hooking it up to the main line going to the filter box. Once again, let me remind you to cut and connect all the pieces making sure you have the right dimensions...before you start gluing. Or... its back to Home Depot. I'm still a little foggy on how I want to set up my play list, but I believe it should be arraigned from the first video going backwards/forwards? ... but probably in a fashion so you can follow me as I progress thru each step. Its a journey I guess eh? Well its un-charted territory. I'm not sure how the filter box/bio-filters will work out. And.. and will I need more bio-filter screens already what has been placed? I am in the process of making videos and adding each one step by step. Hopefully I loosen up here, and get more friendly. Its not me sitting before the camera, although I've been on TV several times. Once in in the News. I've got a few stories to tell, hopefully I can share them with you as we go along. Aside from catching up and posting my videos, today I might be adding water to the pond. It might be added incentive to get my son to help me install the Solar panels. Its a two person job. I'll have to hold the panels while my son drills holes for the installing. Both of us will be standing on a 'step stool' just to reach the actual height of the roof. I'll be using some Bar BQ patio for sun access. It has a steeper angle of the roof for better Solar gain.18 views -
Koi Pond Pump Stand
Koi PondsJust moving along, slowly and at my own pace. Since this is a 'Vlog', I'm just talking with you and sharing with you various stories as I work. I really couldn't find any other Category such as Gardening or Koi Pond, so here's my vlog. Oh, a story about my other dog that live over 15 years, and one of my favorites places to visit was Fry's Electronics. As I am making this video, the pond is filling up with water, and I am periodically making video's of it.35 views -
Koi Pond PVC hook-up complete
Koi PondsAh yes, its almost time for the water to be turned on. On a personal note here, I can tell you right now, the pond is filled with water completely measuring 960 U.S. gallons and.. and the pump is hooked up and running. Complete with the 'babbling brook and water fall'. Using just a 100 Watt pump. The Solar Panels will be hooked up tomorrow, so for now the pump is running off the main line electricity. I have about 6 more Short Videos to load up as I am adding water to the pond. I would like to see a few 'Followers'' added here. It might give me some incentive to go on and continue loading up videos. I can you right now, I'm 'Dog Tired' and ready for lunch and a nap. I'm exhausted. AND, I still have to figure out how to make a 'Playlist' so all the videos are placed in a 'Progressive manner' .. a step by step. Rumble OP's as I try to find all the video's, well I think I'm missing a few. Help..? lol36 views -
Koi Pond Finishing Touches
Koi PondsPlanning, execution for a desired outcome. Sounds good eh>? This is a 15 minute video. Could be rather boring to some, some may want to know. Some may need to need to know. Let me put this another way to throw everyone off. Oh you hear about Survivalist, and how they have stored water just in case things go bad. And really, in the past 2 months some might say we came close to WW3. Do you really have enough water? Think of my two Koi ponds as Cisterns, gathering water during the Winter. My son said to me once as he was taking a sip of his bottled water; 'Can you image how much Gold will go in a couple of years?' I replied; 'Oh about the price of a bottle of water'.31 views -
Filling The Pond
Koi PondsThis Video covers; Measuring How many gallons your pond has with Water Meter. Its importance to be able to measure for Medication / De-chlorine applications. Building your pond with a 'high point' in the middle, that way you can clean one side while the fish are in the other side. Importance of having Power source (home socket/solar power station), pump and filter box in close proximity to one another. Build with 'Claw' for a unique current. Snake Lizard, if you've never seen one, Wow. Waiting for trees to grow, stressing/obtaining 80 percent shade. Or, using UV lights (30 watts)to curtail algae growth. Having an 'over-flow pipe' so as not to flood pond, and having fish floating down the gutter. Water Meter measured 863 gallons in main with an additional 109 for upper filtration boxes. Each Filter tank/spicket can drain off sedimentation having a 'leach line' below (Elephant Ear). Adding 'smooth river rock to 'babbling brook.' Importance of doing a 'dry pour' for a temporary concrete fill. This approach may not be perfect but is functional in terms of a having a Solar pond, having to supplement it with the main power electricity on cloudy days. Watch the video for more information on the above topics.67 views 2 comments
