They consist of vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion; manager Phil Harvey is also credited as a full member. The group are best known for their live performances and have had a significant impact on popular culture.
Coldplay initially went by the names Big Fat Noises and Starfish. Following the independent release of the EP Safety (1998), the band signed a record deal with Parlophone in 1999 and issued their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which included the breakthrough single "Yellow"; the album won a Brit Award for British Album of the Year and a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. The follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), earned the same accolades. X&Y (2005) concluded what Coldplay viewed as a trilogy, and their fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album; both releases topped the charts in over 30 countries, becoming the best-sellers of their respective years worldwide. Viva la Vida's title track was the first song by a British act to reach number one in the United States and United Kingdom simultaneously in the 21st century.

Coldplay - Yellow
SIGOPSThe song was recorded in March 2000 and released in June that year as the single from Coldplay's debut album, "Parachutes". Although the color yellow can have negative implications, according to lead singer Chris Martin, "It was used simply because that word sounded nice, it just seemed to fit, no other reason. None of the other colors would have sounded right really!, The song is about devotion, About doing something for someone and being pleased about it. - Chris Martin." The music video was filmed on the beach of Studland Bay (Dorset, England). As it was shot at 50 fps, to achieve the slow-motion, Chris Martin had to sing the song at double speed so that the audio and video would be in sync. Yellow received two Grammy nominations and reached #4 in the UK Singles Chart, marking Coldplay's first top-five hit in the UK. The song has since been covered by various artists worldwide, and remains one of the band's most popular songs. Lyrics: Look at the stars Look how they shine for you And everything you do Yeah, they were all yellow I came along I wrote a song for you And all the things you do And it was called "Yellow" So then I took my turn Oh what a thing to have done And it was all yellow Your skin Oh yeah your skin and bones Turn into something beautiful Do you know You know I love you so You know I love you so I swam across I jumped across for you Oh what a thing to do 'Cause you were all yellow I drew a line I drew a line for you Oh what a thing to do And it was all yellow Your skin Oh yeah your skin and bones Turn into something beautiful Do you know For you I'd bleed myself dry For you I'd bleed myself dry It's true Look how they shine for you Look how they shine for you Look how they shine for Look how they shine for you Look how they shine for you Look how they shine Look at the stars Look how they shine for you And all the things that you do36 views 1 comment -
Coldplay - Clocks
SIGOPSClocks is a song by the British rock band Coldplay. It was released on 17 March 2003 by Parlophone in the United Kingdom. It was written and composed as a collaboration among all the members of the band for their second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head. The song is built around a piano riff, and features cryptic lyrics concerning themes of contrast and urgency. Lyrics: The lights go out and I can't be saved Tides that I tried to swim against Have brought me down upon my knees Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing Come out of things unsaid Shoot an apple off my head and a Trouble that can't be named A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing You are You are Confusion never stops Closing walls and ticking clocks Gonna come back and take you home I could not stop that you now know, singing Come out upon my seas Cursed missed opportunities Am I a part of the cure? Or am I part of the disease? Singing You are, you are, you are You are, you are, you are And nothing else compares Oh nothing else compares And nothing else compares You are You are Home, home where I wanted to go Home, home where I wanted to go Home, home where I wanted to go Home, home where I wanted to go62 views
