I finally had the chance to catch up on Season Three of the gripping "Dark Winds" and I was not disappointed. Dark Winds is an American police thriller television series created by Graham Roland based on the Leaphorn & Chee novel series by Tony Hillerman and produced by Robert Redford and George RR Martin. The series follows three Navajo Tribal Police officers, Joe Leaphorn, Bernadette Manuelito, and Jim Chee, who have the challenging task of policing the vast and rugged areas of the Navajo Nation in the American Southwest. I recently had the chance to sit down with independent filmmaker Douglas Burke for a conversation. "Surfer: Teen Confronts Fear," a 2018 indie film written, directed, produced, scored, and starring Douglas Burke, is a cinematic oddity that defies conventional storytelling. Featuring Burke’s real-life son, Sage Burke, in the titular role, this low-budget passion project has earned a cult following for its bizarre narrative, earnest execution, and a healthy dose of outsider charm.
