Behind The Meter Legislation And The Future Of Data Centers In Oklahoma With Rep. Brad Boles
ROPE ReportThis legislative session, HB1374 and SB480 were passed through the Oklahoma legislature. Both bills refer to something called, "behind the meter" legislation. BTM legislation allows private industry to put in place their own energy solutions instead of grabbing energy from existing energy infrastructure. Bills that allow private organizations/businesses to produce their own energy and sell that back to their utility have been on the books in 38 states for numerous years. In Oklahoma, this 'net metering' is overseen by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. This type of legislation is being used to attract data farming because AI is a known data hog - among other resources. The easiest way not to tie up the grid would be for energy to be produced off grid at the site. But what does this look like? We've all been told about jobs and millions in revenue, but what about the other side? Are there no problems we can think of? If we can't think of them are there really none, or are we just being so short sided that they'll catch us unaware. We'll talk to Rep. Boles about all these things and more.147 views -
Where Is Lincoln - With Mary, of V1SUT Vantage
ROPE ReportJoin Michael and Jenni as they walk through V1SUT’s latest reporting involving OKDHS’s unnecessary removal of a newborn baby boy from his parents and placement/adoption into the home of two men. Lincoln’s biological family is now urgently searching for the boy who should never have been taken. Please join us on Friday LIVE and comment! Be part of the podcast as we tell the story of Lincoln and his parents.99 views -
How To Hold Your Own In The Oklahoma Legislature - Shane Jett
ROPE ReportSo many things to say about the 2025 legislative session, but not enough could probably be said about the last day of session. It was as though a large number of our senators had completely lost their mind. There were threats and coercions and stomping on rules and insults and - well the list goes on. Probably one of the most interesting part of that day was the part in which Shane Jett stood against every single senator on the floor to argue for keeping the Governor Stitt-appointed head of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. We'll talk with him about this and other things at a special time - 1:30pm! Want to create live streams like this? Check out StreamYard:144 views 2 comments -

Solar Installation Development in Oklahoma - Sustainable and Renewable, Or Nearby Nightmare
ROPE ReportWednesday, June 18, our friend NeAnne Clinton from Garfied County Conservation Coalition will be with us to update us on the giant solar installation brewing in her backyard. NeAnne will also update us on the lawsuit Garfield County residents have had to file against their own government to follow their own zoning laws - laws which would help protect residents against NextEra's solar development. (https://rope2.org/2024/10/27/garfield-residents-have-to-sue-enid-government-to-protect-them-from-huge-solar-installation Why are residents having to sue their government to get their government to do the right thing? She'll also talk a bit about Wagner County, who just recently prevented a solar installation from setting up shop in their county! Our legislature has certainly been a disappointment in protecting residents from solar installations, but apparently, citizens can do it for themselves. NeAnne will tell us how!
