Extremely rare 1983 alt version of the 1979 classic “Cars” by synth-pop pioneer Gary Numan. Produced with close friend and fellow electronic artist Nate Higgs, this reworked cut was inspired by their growing fascination with the emerging hip-hop and rap scene. After hearing “Rapper’s Delight” in 1979, Gary became an early fan of the genre, which later influenced both this recording and a diRector’s-cut version of the original music video.
