Backmasking Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin Backmasking Research: In 1971 Page purchased The Boleskine House, a manor on the south-east side of Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is notable for having been the home of author and occultist Aleister Crowley (1875–1947), whose writings and ephemera he had already begun to collect. Page encountered Crowley’s work during his teenage years after chancing upon a copy of Crowley’s monograph, “Magick”. Crowley was already regaining popularity as a counter-culture icon with his inclusion on The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover, and other musicians and artists were now lifting his legacy from its previous obscurity. Led Zeppelin’s third album, Led Zeppelin III, released in October of 1970, shortly before Page’s Boleskine acquisition, would include the iconic Crowley phrase “Do what thou wilt” inscribed on the inner ring of the record. It was the summer of 1974 and Jimmy Page had finally realized his passion project of opening a bookshop dedicated to occult books in London. The Equinox bookshop at 4 Holland Street, a short walk from Page’s London home, had recently opened its doors next to a burger restaurant. Visitors could purchase items such as “Liber B vel Magi” by Aleister Crowley that were affixed with the bookshop’s logo. (https://ledzepnews.com/2024/02/21/the-history-of-jimmy-pages-equinox-occult-bookshop/) Thelema is a Western esoteric and occult social or spiritual philosophy, as well as a new religious movement that was founded in the early 1900s by Aleister Crowley. Central to Thelema is the idea of discovering and following one's True Will, a unique purpose and calling that goes beyond ordinary desires. Crowley's system begins with The Book of the Law, a text he said was dictated to him by an entity named Aiwass. This foundational work lays out key principles, including the central axiom "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law". This principle emphasizes personal freedom and the pursuit of one's true path, while being guided by love and finding one's authentic purpose. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thelema) It's also well documented that Led Zeppelin’s isolation at Headley Grange resulted in a couple of paranormal sightings and that “Jimmy thought he’d seen a ghost there too”. (https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/headley-grange-led-zeppelin-musical-refuge/) Within Crowley's "Magick In Theory And Practice" the following exert details some of the requirements and methods used to obtain higher orders within the religion. The term "Adeptus Exemptus" means, the "Exempt Adept". In the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a title given to people who have reached the 7° of the Order. "First Method." Let the Exempt Adept first train himself to think backwards by external means, as set forth here following. --- (a) Let him learn to write backwards, with either hand. (b) Let him learn to walk backwards. (c) Let him constantly watch, if convenient, cinematograph films, and listen to phonograph records, reversed, and let him so accustom himself to these that they appear natural and appreciable as a whole. (d) Let him practise speaking backwards: thus for "I am He" let him say, "Eh ma I". (e) Let him learn to read backwards. In this it is difficult to avoid cheating one's self, as an expert reader sees a sentence at a glance. Let his disciple read aloud to him backwards, slowly at first, then more quickly. (f) Of his own ingenium, let him devise other methods. “The sin which is unpardonable is knowingly and willfully to reject truth, to fear knowledge lest that knowledge pander not to thy prejudices.” ― Aleister Crowley, Magick: Liber ABA: Book 4
