Genetic Engineers have found a way to cause food crops to grow RNA fragments that can be specifically targeted to interfere with a physiological process of targeted species that might eat the food.

It's called RNA interference technology. It was initially developed to eliminate the use of pesticides.

However, if the corn crop can grow an RNA fragment that can kill the insects that eat the corn without having to use pesticides, it could also be fine-tuned to target a specific race of humans. Causing infertility or nervous system disorders... mutations...
