How’d We Do? – Painting Our First Horizontal Hives!

After Dr. Leo Sharashkin's natural beekeeping workshop last month, I came home with 6 horizontal bee hives and 6 swarm traps, 9 of which my kids helped me paint.

There were laughs, there were probably tears... But we had good family time, listened to lots of Adventures in Odyssey, and are now one step closer to starting our apiary!

This is an important and exciting step toward raising 100% of our own food (SOME day) -- not only harvesting our own honey, but encouraging the local bee population as they pollinate our produce!
