When Governor Ron Desantis signed the Parental Rights in Education bill, slanderously known as the "Don't Say Gay bill," a furor erupted across the nation. This furor consisted in an intense debate around education. One faction of the debate claims queer and trans representation is important in education, whereas more conservative voices decry schools for supplanting the roles of parents in talking about sensitive topics. Some have even gone as far to call attempts to teach children about gender identity and sexual orientation "grooming" or "indoctrination."
