62-year-old Frank James, who was wanted in connection with Tuesday’s subway shooting in Brooklyn, has been taken into custody after being arrested in the East Village neighborhood of New York, law enforcement officials said on Wednesday. The shooting happened on Tuesday around 8:30 am ET at the 36th Street station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. At least 29 people were injured, including five in critical condition and 10 suffering from gunshot wounds. The motive for the shooting remains unclear and the incident isn’t being investigated as an act of terrorism, New York City Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said.

Frank James, a person of interest following the subway shooting in Brooklyn on Tuesday, recorded numerous videos on social media attacking different racial groups.

SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police are searching for a person of interest in connection with a subway attack in Brooklyn Tuesday morning that left at least 29 people shot or otherwise injured, shaking a city already unnerved by a sharp rise in crime.

A "mumbling" lone gunman in a reflective vest and a gas mask threw smoke bombs into a subway car in Brooklyn and then began shooting at the height of the morning rush, with the manhunt continuing into the evening as new details emerged in the probe.

None of the injuries were considered life-threatening. Authorities said a magazine jammed in the gun, which possibly saved lives.

Tuesday evening, the authorities identified 62-year-old Frank R. James as a person of interest in the investigation and released a photo at an NYPD briefing led by Commissioner Keechant Sewell.
